Invaded? You do realize that Krajina Serbs were in that area as long as Croats were. All Croats are is Serbs that converted during the crusades and other conversion attemps by Rome after Byzantium fell. Why do you think Croatia has so many Italian immigrants? Moving on to the current conflict it is simple YOU INVADED KRAJINA! Serbs never asked for land that they didn't own. Those towns were predominantly Serb and that is fact. Krajina in a whole was 97% Serb and now it's around 7%. Yet Croatian town are still Croatian. We never went to Zagreb, Split which are the nicest and most strategic towns. We never left Krajina. Man your knowledge of Yugoslavia is truely poor for someone who has roots there. Slovenia and Croatia were the Republics that prospered during Yugoslavia. Serbia was definanlty the most troubled region (other then belgrade). Vojvodina became autonomous and so did Kosovo. All of the music, film, fishing and other industries were in the north of the country. Serbia was mainly used for agricultural purposes. Serbia was screwed over big time. Yugoslavia destroyed the powerfull Kingdom and split it apart. Bosnia Macedonia Montenegro kosovo those would all be 100% Serbian controleld if Yugo had not been around because they were not on a map before WWI. Tito drew up those maps to weaken Serbia and distribute the wealth and land. You want to know why Slovenia and Croatia were aided so much by Tito.

I usually don't get into nationalism all that often but did you know that remains of Zvonomir's (Cro king from 11th Century) castle dominates Knin? I am not stating that the Serbs/Orthodox Vlachs were not in Croatia for a long time but it is 500years at most and then 150 years ago there was a greater influx under Austro-Hungary. The real ancient architecture (pre-1700s) in the region suggests that the area is traditionally Catholic.

The oldest orthodox monument of any significance is the Krka monastery built in the 14th century by Jelena Subic who was married to the Croatian Mladen Subic. As you can see there is several hundred years difference.

Geographically, the orthodox population was found on the old vojna krajina. Why were they there on the most forbidding land in Croatia? Simple, they were sent to fight the turks, no great towns of significance were built there so this suggests that these people were mobile and may not have considered permenantly remaining in the region. This enhances the theory that these people were bought in from other lands and not their own as they would have established cities or towns seen throught other parts of the country.

Another thing, regardless of whether you think Cros are Serbs or whatever. We don't feel Serbian so trying to convert us is useless. The same could be said for the Orthodox in the region who can be considered as Croatian. However, whatever I think can not change what a person feels.

Interestingly, the area that you charge is not really Croatian has the oldest remnants of the Croatian royals. Most of them were linked to this region. This is all pre 12th century. The Serbian links came several centuries later mostly through the intermarriage of the aristocracy which was common at the time.

Of course what I have written is futile as I am certain you will not agree...

In a few generations the Serbs may form the majority BUT that does not mean that others never lived in that area. Banja Luka for example had several beautiful mosques that were bulldozed. Just because the monuments have been erased does not mean that there were never any muslims in the area.

What I am trying to say is that demography shifts. Australia is majority white but does that mean that the Aborigines didn't own the land first.

What you are referring to is the process where history is re-written. Streets, parks, halls, memorials assume new names and new identities are attached to the place. Interestingly, Some parts of the Serb republic feel, and look more "Serbian" than Belgrade. Again, it is the way politicians of the time attempt to mold their society in a particular way. What is going on in the Serb Republic is not exclusive, as it is happening in the Federation aswell. Belgrade is a dslightly ifferent story. People I think, are more critical in Belgrade.

Oh I tottally agree with the begining but here is the trick. The West helped you exterminate Serbs from Krajina. Krajina is not ours now is it? Why should Albanians get part of Serbia because they have a high population when the West did not allow serbs that same right.

You bring up the churches sadly you are right. All of our historic temples, writings were destroyed during the Crusades. What wasn't destroyed there was destroyed by other attempts and even in WWII. 1/3 of the Orthodox were killed brutally. Rome hated the Orthodox and still does. It is a sad thing that most Croats can't accept that they are of Serbian blood. I hate Rome for that. The same reason for me hating Turks. All of them tried to get rid of our faith and exterminate us but We have prevailed we are still here and we will never succum to those terrorists.
