If they played it....?

Now we know there are alot of Maoris in the NRL, the captain of the world champion NZ league team was a Maori and is another Maori now captaining the world champs....
The best league player in the world is a Maori (Jonathon Thurston), the best league player last year was another Maori (Benji Marshall) and other Maoris have won that prestigious Golden Boot award....

Um 1/3rd of Super 15 NZ based rugby players are of Maori descent, the world champion Allblacks team had 10 Maoris and thats indefinately going to increase this year with young guys coming through like Andre Taylor (best rugby player atm), Aaron Smith, Tawera Barlow, Luke Romano, Luke Braid, Tj Perenara etc and guys who missed the cut like Hikawera Elliot, Jarrad Hoeata, Liam Messam etc...

The Maori rugby team is also regarded very highly, the Maori team with minimal games have conquered France, Ireland, Wales, Scotland, England, Italy, Wales, AUSTRALIA and the combined team of the BRITISH AND IRISH LIONS!
Theyve also Controversially drawed with S.Africa (the Boks first five missed the kick but was awarded the point) and have lost by only 7 points to the great Allblacks...

So question stands, what would Maoris be like at NFL?

Rugby is just as popular in the US as American football is in NZ or Oz. But given the chance to play American football, I'm quite sure our Maori brothers would've been just as good.

Samoans, Tongans, Hawaiians, etc., that grew up in the states playing American footy, and quite a few of them have made it to the big league. Why should Maoris be any different?

Totally the wrong forum for this topic....lol!!! BUT aaanyway, just to answer such a weird question, I think Maori would do quite well. Back in the day they had players like Riki Ellison, Dave Dixon and Will Hinchcliff...I know thats not many but at least a few have made it to the big time...

I askin this forum because we all know how good Samoans are at NFL, also what positions would Maori generally lean to? E.g - running back.

Well its extremely hard to see them not making it. Theres 3 NFL players from NZ, all Maoris, so as far as we know, Maoris produce the best NFL players from NZ.

If given the chance I believe Maori's would be successful in the NFL like Samoans and Tongans. The only problem is, you guys have to move here (USA) first lol me being raised in the USA I have never met 1 person of Maori descent are there any Maori's in the USA?

There's no reason Maoris wouldn't make it in the NFL, they've made it before. I can see them playing D'line, D'end, lineback, O'line, and maybe even safety, it would all depend on their skills, size and speed...like everything else in professional sports, right?...lol

Lol Jonathan Thurston has never come out and said hes maori people say he is but where does he even say it? hes a proud indiginous australian who speaks highly of how proud he is to be an australian aboriginie. stop trying to claim the best australian rugby league player on the planet as maori cause he isnt cuase he has never come out an said he is. Jonathan Thurston is aboriginie not maori

Nfl is a sport that in each position you need a different set of skills wide receivers/running backs need ultra speed, acceleration, agility and brains.
Quater backs need to be deceptive, accurate, and a cool head.
Then you have defensive positions who need strength, aswel as speed and witts.
I think maoris have all the skills to fill these positions eg. Benji marshall as a QB, Sandor earl as a WR, Hosea gear as a RB, Liam messam as LB...

Quaterbacks need to be cool under pressure, smart but can do something amazing - i.e aaron wiremu cruden.
You also need alot of strength i.e derek pomana 3x time powerlifting world champion.
Linesmen need to dominate there opposite i.e carl hayman.
You also need good speed agility and acceleration as a WR i.e israel tukatahi dagg
And you have to be big, aggressive and hit hard i.e jared waerea

Id love to see a Maori play as a quater back. He'd be elusive, smart and would probably change QB's as we know it. I.e benji marshall, carlos spencer, quade cooper etc

The US has no use for fat lazy island coons. We have a pre-existing relationship with the Mexicans. Stay out.
