Growing up on the Island in the late 1960's was a different time. Only 4 HS playing organized football at that time with Leone and Samoana consistenly the two best. Now AS has over 70K people and big time NFL players...way to go Samoa!

Agaua free show!

Oregon Ducks only need about 4 or 5 big-motor defensive lineman and their NCAA title dreams come true. Impressed with Utah Utes ability to recruit the islands, including Tonga. They have had success in converting rugby players into tackle football stars.

You got my support on that! Denying that he is Samoan,is no different from smacking and stomping on his own parents.
Ia ae o le mea la lena na u ai ona tapilipili i luga(HAHAHA!)when the bull sua his sorry arse up in the air...on national television. He was on this tv show( I guess he had Hollywood dreams lol) about different jobs...ae MA LA si mea! I laughed so hard that...I cried.
When JR Seau's name comes up...THAT is the image that automatically appears in my mind, and I laugh all over again.
You must of missed that show. It didn't last.
That rumor was started by loko leaga bitches in the 90s based of off an espn interivew. They were blasting him on all the samoan forums. Well back then if you missed it you were out of luck cuz there was no YouTube.
Now there is YouTube and the interview has been posted. Nowhere has he ever denied his Samoan heritage.

Samoans were among the tallest and most robust people.

"...

1. Lapérouse’s conclusion about Samoan ‘customs’: the women’s behaviour

After his chapter describing daily events, Lapérouse wrote a concluding chapter describing his encounter with the Samoans. His summary of the contents, given on the first page of the chapter, says that his remarks will bear ‘on the customs and practices of these people, their crafts and the country’s products. Basis of a belief that they do not all share the same origin…’([Lapérouse] Dunmore ed. 1995: 415). Lapérouse speaks first of the names and position of the islands, and refers first of all to Bougainville’s comments.(We thus know that Lapérouse had carefully read the narrative of Bougainville’s circumnavigation of 1766-9). Then he summarises Roggeveen’s voyage from his reading of Behrens’s narrative through the quotations that are in ‘Président de Brosses’’s work of 1756. This was the great compilation, used by all captains of the second half of the 18th century.2 Lapérouse then proceeds to describe the physical appearance of Samoan men,‘the tallest and most robustly built we have met’, and how they are ‘painted or tattooed in such a way that one could almost believe they are clothed’(Dunmore ed. 1995: 419). Then he describes the women (we shall return to the passage in its entirety). His last lines about Samoan ‘women’ concern the ‘girls’ and contain the words highlighted by Côté via Williamson: Whatever navigators who preceded us might say, I am convinced that at least in the Navigators Islands girls are mistresses of their own favours before marriage, their complaisance casts no dishonour on them, and it is more likely that when they marry they are under no obligation to account for their past behaviour. But I have no doubt that they are required to show more restraint when they are married (ibid.: 420).3

I don't know where you got this from. Of course there were short Samoans but Samoans in general were still one of the tallest and definitely the broadest people on the planet.

Thank you for the information regarding that contentious subject.
I certainly was taken aback by that, as I recall how an interview that Junior Seau had in Tutuila by KVZK local telvision, I think it was for Public Health(...regarding RHD Rheumatic Heart Disease, and I believe he was talking about that illness, which he stated that he found out that he had while he was young)....the importance of getting medical attention and proper diagnosis etc

In that public health interview...he didn't seem at all to be snotty or anything of the sort. He just came across as low key and soft spoken and down to earth real.

This slang (although offensive) was used quite a bit by US Marines (and Americans for that matter) in Vietnam, referring to enemy combatants. I'm not sure of its originality, but its also used widely in Hawaii for Asians especially...
