Masina, I am very interested in finding out about how the title Finau originate in Samoa and who the first to be given the title. I am also interested in how it became one of the laaugafausia.
Looking forward to your reply
P.s. Please provide me with resources

MOTU,
Talofa out there in Kaneohe..lol
I apologize for not seeing this query of yours. I recently come across it in the Samoan and Tongan connection thread.

Your question regarding Finau and the term la'aunafausia. I remember this topic had come up in another site that I frequented and also contributed to as a member. Several years ago about 2008-2009 and so on.

debate and exchanges between Tamasamoamoni, Chris, C, Tama A'ana and various Anonymous posters hashed it out on this topic. You can look it up as well as FONOTI's website on wordpress.
If I remember correctly the name of the supposed first FINAU title holder in A'ana...is supposed to be FONOIMA'AUGA...to comemmorate the event that took place in Ma'auga.

The Fa'alupega of Fasito'otai and Fasito'outa..
If you want more help in finding a wee bit info you can ask but also try to check with Tamasamoamoni, TOA, et cetera

If you want to know whence, why and from whom this TOFIGA originated...you may have different answers.. some say NAFANUA and others say FONOTI.
Thanks
TTYL

Finau.

There should be Two families with the title Finau. One of which was the Tulafale/Matapule for the Tui'Tonga in Samoa.

I asked a similar question on my own ancestory and someone was talking about the Finau title. I remember both parties saying that there were two Finau titles one from Safaatoa and the other from ????(cant remember)

But one of the Finau's anciently had its roots during existance of the Tui'tonga in Samoa, which Tui'Tonga i dont know. But he was said to be the orator chief of the king and hence why the Finau title is also found in Tonga whos origins be from one or the other.

So have you found out more info on your query about Finau?

Yes that is very true.

The finau family is one of those that can be found on every island and related. Its the same as leiataua.
