"Polynesians originated in Asia according to linguistic evidence or in Melanesia according to archaeological evidence."

Don't tell me you missed this one because it was at the top. This supports my claim before that more evidence is needed to prove which theory is correct. But at this moment, the latest evidence is leaning towards the 'Express Train Theory'(Polynesians came from South East Asia and intermarried with Melanesians minimally). Not ruling out the 'Slow Boat Theory' though, just saying...

Wrong again. Even your precious 'Slow Boat Theory' states that proto-Polynesians ORIGINALLY came from South East Asia and mixed with Melanesians. There is no theory that states that Polynesians came from Melanesians alone.

Just because the study is more recent doesn't mean it is correct. In my opinion all this nonsense about people coming from mainland Asia and getting on a hypersonic boat passing New Guinea and Melanesia in order to create a population UNRELATED to those of New Guinea and Melanesia is retarded.I disagree that the evidence is leaaning towards the 'Express Train Theory' but yes I will say that more research needs to be conducted to get a clearer results.

The Lapita Culture is identified as the earliest ancestral Polynesian culture. In the mid-2nd millennium BC a distinctive culture appeared suddenly in north-west Melanesia, in the Bismarck Archipelago, the chain of islands forming a great arc from New Britain to the Admiralty Islands. This culture, known as Lapita, stands out in the Melanesian archeological record, with its large permanent villages on beach terraces along the coasts.

That is what I meant when I stated that Polynesia came from Melanesia.

In Science, the more recent the study the better. So I don't know what you're talking about. Obviously Scientists are going to rely on studies made this year than a studies from the 1960's.

Who said anything about them being 'unrelated'?? I already told you before that the 'Express Train Theory' doesn't make this claim, all it says is that the rate of intermarriage between early Poly's and Mela's was relatively low.

P.S. SMH @ "In my opinion...". I thought we decided before that opinions have no place in this debate??

Sure, the Lapita theory is fine. But the debate is how much Melanesian DNA they had.

A gap of 8 years is not long enough to use that argument. If the study I presented was conducted in the 60's then certainly.Apologies for the second statement as I should have worded it "a population with relatively low relation to those of New guinea and Melanesia".We can use opinions as you are certainly able to hold a mature conversation and use facts, unlike samoan irish.

Of course it is. I only used the 1960's as an example but I didn't mean it as a rule. 8 years may not be that long compared to decades but it is still a long time in Science. For example, that study I posted was done in 2008 but if there was a study done only a year or 2 later then I'd be inclined to go with the later study (provided that the study is proper and peer reviewed).

I still don't agree that the more recent a study automatically makes it correct and that we should dismiss the previous evidence gathered, but I do see the point you are making.

No, I meant your claim that Polynesians came from Melanesia. The fact is that Poly's came from Asia and PASSED THROUGH Melanesia. There's a difference.
