I want us to try and get the story straight concerning the 'Togafiti'. I've heard some claim that it was simply an alliance between Fiji and Tonga, but I haven't heard anything about that in any reliable sources. According to this book, there is a different story...

"For these later migrants we have adopted the name by which they are known in Samoan history, the Tongafiti, it being understood that the present names of the archipelagoes of Tonga and Fiji (Viti or Fiti) did not supply the name, but are derived there-from."

For those in here with a diminished capacity for intelligence, it simply says that Tonga and Fiji were named after the term 'Togafiti' and not the other way around. Anyone with further evidence is welcome.

Tongafiti means in Fijian tonga mai viti its a Fijian race of Tongan mix from Fiji who destroyed Samoa for a leader from Tonga because this Fijian army was ordered by the king of central lau kingdom and the king of lamoaviti for disrespecting the Tui viti because of Vea the Fijian then named you the Toa chicken clan from then on-words the Tongans from Tonga hold power over you because Fijian hold Tongans higher cast then you .Because Vea had a Son with the tui viti daughter the son was a threat and would have ruled the Fijian kingdom but was killed in apia. Fijian in their thousands invaded Samoa and sub it for their partners known as the Tonga mai tonga and was given the tittle of the area Tui Tonga the 1st with his Fijian army known as the Tongaviti. The Tongans from Tonga later started to move to Samoa they lived under the protection of the tongaviti army aka Fijian along the coastal areas of western Samoa their reward was Samoa. Then later they enslaved you and was sold to Fijian as slaves you were put to work by Fijian to craft our war ships. Your women then was given to the Tui viti as prize and this ladies formed the Samoan kingdoms of bau and the kingdom of rewa and rotuma and vanalua levu the 2nd biggest island in Fiji if go there will be Fijian Samoan who can trace their bloodline back to this Samoan women.

Tongafiti are Fijian mixed Tongan they to you officially see Fijian and Tongan as the same race which is true the name means a Race and a people because Tongan are came from Fijian bloodline its all there in Tonga. Tonga will always aid Fijian in their wars and will hold powerful tittles among areas we have invaded. You should know by now Tonga cant just create a empire just like that they don't have that power the people who do are right in your face the Fijians loooooool.

Recently Vanished Islands in Fiji

Fiji's oral traditions are replete with stories about vanished islands, particularly that name Burotu(cognate with Pulotu in the isalnds to the East) to which people on many of the ninety or so inhabited islands in the group today trace their ancestry. Belief in Burotu has been very strong amongst Fijians. For example, Dr. Thomas St. Johnston reported in 1918 that stories about Burotu(material in brackets mine) names, especially the names of the the two halves of ancient Matuku-Burotu and Babajea(now Babasea)- and the name of the hill fort Togaviti, from which the Tongafiti invaders of Polynesian island groups elsewhere took their name.

Hope that helps.

....for information, there is little literature known of these people. It may be pre tagaloa as to understand migration of those who settled prior to next wave of migration if there ever was one.
