You must first of all get yourself a "P-Kaukau" or "P-Faikau". If you don't know what that means, simply google up the "Samoan Alphabet" to give you an idea of what I'm talking about.

It will also give you all sorts of assistance as to pronunciations, books and audio cds. It will help your efforts if you buy a Samoan Dictionary.

Don't forget a Samoan Bible for daily readings. Not only it's good practice to read in Samoan, but you'll get that funny feeling some higher power is helping you along!!!. Good luck

Have you asked at your local council and community centre.
Learning Samoan here in NZ seems only to be available in a few community courses. Personally I prefer to learn at home though that doesn;'t seem to be happening alot. The only words I ever remember growing up were profane and derogatory, enough to put you off the language altogether. But above all the swearing and put downs my mother always fired at me, I never lost faith in the beauty of the language. That is something that money can never buy. I might not be fluent in Samoan, but I am definitely fluent in Peace, Love and Happiness.

Yeah I know what your mean Sayla. Some people don’t know how lucky they are knowing the language. I was asked to take a name on behalf of our family, so I went to Samoa and did my name and it was certainly an eye opener on how they did the fa’a samoan stuff there. Got my malu done, which was a great experience and id do it all over again. I do my little part where it is required when asked. Now I’m just asking help to learn how to speak the language. But I love it how I ask for help and people reply in Samoan; shows their ways right there… lol

There's a lady around Broadmeadows suburb who apparently teaches Samoan at one of the schools around those areas, im not quite sure if this is true but I will gladly find out more information.
