I was talking to my older sister on Christmas day in regards to this topic. She confirmed that Queen Salote has samoan blood and went on to vaguely explain to me, her husbands family connection to the tongan royal blood line.
She said that her husband (who is full samoan) is a descendant from the AMA clan. To this day their family get invited to The Tongan Royal family events.
I did a little bit of research and found this on Wikipedia Haha which a lot of it is in reference to Kramer.
AMA CLAN were renowned great samoan warriors. This is an brief outline of the Ama clan lineage, up to the Tongan Royals Connection.
Ama Alovave married Fautua who bore a son Ama Fiame.
Ama Fiame married Salefale Lupeaupepe, who gave birth to Ama Tauaituatasolo.
Ama Tauaituatasolo married Luafaletele who bore Ama Lele.
Ama Lele married Soli'ai a daughter of Tui Manua. Soli'I gave birth to son Ama Paseta & daughter Tohu'ia Limapo.
Tohu'ia Limapo married the 6th Tui Ha'atakalaua of Tonga. Tohu'ia gives birth to Ngata, Tui Kanokupolu.
Malo Kit Kat

The Ama clan are descendents of the Malietoa Family they hail from Safata which is the village of Fata hence the name of the village:

Sa = Sacred/Clan also can mean center
Fata = Samoan warrior who was the brother of Tuna

The literal translation of Safata means the Clan of Fata etc....

* Whats so interesting about the migration of Samoans via Amalele and his warriors etc to Tonga is that this migration is remembered by many Tongans and is very detailed such as the places they landed and places they lived new lineages created by them and so forth.

I posted this video before but just in case people werent paying attention. This is a video of Malietoa Tanumafili II funeral. Now when you watch it, in the beginning the guy in all black explains the Tui Kanokupolu's/Tupou Dynasty's origins and connections in relation to the Malietoa Family.

Malietoa Tanumafili Funeral
http://m.youtube.com/#/watch...

* You will hear 2 names Pulepule O Solosolo ma Ama mai Safata. Pulepule of Solosolo is a Samoan Chief and Ama Of Safata is another Samoan Chief, the Tui Kanokupolu line descends from Ama/Tohuia of Safata and connects to Pulepule of Solosolo as well.

Quick question... Since you know about the Fata clan, any chance you know about the name Tuamasaga?

Descendants of Malie Toa? Can you please elaborate on this connection?
As we did talk about Malietoa, but she did not mention the family ties between the two. I believe that would've been something most people would boast about, a connection to Malietoa

In fact, the below extract from Wikipedia under the Ama (title) lol stipulates that Malietoa and Ama Lele were actually from the same era. Therefore Ama Lele could not have descended from Malietoa.

**
"There was a battle involving the Sa Faumuina clan at the time. The Sa Faumuina had a large kava plantation, the biggest plantation in Samoa at the time. The plantation was located in the land Fusiloa. At the time, Malietoa and his warriors were living in Malie. Faumuina called his people together to attend the big harvest of the kava plantation. It was at this harvest that Malietoa and his warriors conspired to take the plantation. Faumuina and his warriors were losing the battle and were retreating towards southern Tuamasaga. At the time, Ama Lele was in Vete, close to where the Faumuina were retreating towards. Ama was enjoying the chief's sport of catching game birds and was in a tree when one of his warriors heard commotion headed towards them. Ama came down from the tree just as Faumuina approached and requested his assistance in fighting the Malietoa. Ama obliged and led his warriors in battle against the Malietoa warriors. Already well-renowned as a strong and successful warrior, the Malietoa warriors fled when faced with Ama Lele and his warriors"
**
My sister did say, her in-laws and my aunty from safata, told her that it was the great great grandfather haha.. Not too sure how many great grand fathers ago. Anyway it was his sister who married a Tongan king.

Wikipedia supports this claims..

Tohu'ia of Safata who married the Tongan King, is the sister of Ama Paseta, and the daughter of Ama Lele and Soli'ai (daughter of Tui Manua).

That's all Folks! Lol

Im guessing your Tongan? If you are Tongan then that explains why it seems you dont really understand Samoan Politics and so forth. If you are actually Samoan then shame on you lol

YOU STATED:

* Malietoa and Ama Lele were actually from the same era. Therefore Ama Lele could not have descended from Malietoa. Tohu'ia of Safata who married the Tongan King, is the sister of Ama Paseta, and the daughter of Ama Lele and Soli'ai (daughter of Tui Manua).

MY REPLY:

* Just because Malietoa and Amalele are from the same era does not necessarily mean Amalele could not have descended from a Malietoa. Tui Tonga and Tui Haatakalaua are from the same era and also existed at the same time but everyone knows that the Tui Haatakalaua line descended from Tui Tonga. The Gatoaitele and Tamasoali'i titles are from the same era and existed at the same time as Malietoa but everyone knows these 2 titles descended from Malietoa you get what I mean?

* The Ama family of Safata descends from Malietoa Fuaoleto'elau. But if you trace the GAFA back even further you end up with FATA hence the literal translation of the village Safata meaning the Clan/Family of Fata. The Sa Malietoa (CLAN/FAMILY OF MALIETOA) is huge and the Ama Clan of Safata are apart of the Malietoa Family.

* Kit Kat Did you watch the Malietoa Tanumafili II funeral video? The connections of the Tui Kanokupolu/Tupou Dynasty to the Malietoa Family are explained and it is through AMA of Safata and Pulepule of Solosolo that connect the Malietoa Family to the Tui Kanokupolu/Tupou Family etc...

AMA of SAFATA:

Its interesting because the Samoan War Chiefs who carried the title AMA were known to have there own personal war Club called FAITASI. Also the migration of Amalele, his warriors and various other Samoans is well documented in Tongan traditions see below:

* Tongan History claims there was a huge migration of Samoans to Tonga by way of Ama of Safata and Tohuia etc.. The Samoans settled in present day Tatakamotonga in Mu'a in an area called Fonuamotu. They later moved to Hihifo and later central Tongatapu in the Haamea region.

(This huge migration of Samoans to Tonga affected Tonga in so many different ways as addressed by Tongan Historians.(SEE BELOW):

* By inverting the ancient Tui Tonga highly centralized Political system, the emerging Tui Kanokupolu began a program of democratic reforms that saw the decisive metamorphosis of a greater number of institutions. Politics was now conducted, explicitly, in FAA SAMOA, the SAMOAN WAY.

Directly responsible for this radical change was a large number of Tohui'as extremely subversive, ambitious, and powerful Samoan followers. Some of them created new Ha'a, operated under the Tui Kanokupolu administration, as was the case of Kili (Ili in Samoan), founder of the Fale Ha'a Kili (House of Class of Descendents of Kili.

Similarly the formation of the Fale Kanokupolu was based on the Samoan Fale Upolu (House Of Upolu), centers of Political Power. Like Fale Upolu, Symbolically (THE HOUSE OF POWER), the fale kanokupolu referred to by Latufuka as the ELECTORAL COLLEGE, had the complete control over the election of successors to the Tui Kanokupolu Title conducted in Fa'a Samoa.
