Some more interesting stuff:

It was not only Tui Kanokupolu Salote Tupou who knew of her Samoan Lineage but Tui Kanokupolu George Taufaahau Tupou 1 also addressed his Samoan Origins.

TONGA, JANUARY 6TH, 1843.

* I George, having just returned from Samoa, think proper to inform you of the reason of my voyage there, and the cause of my interfering with the people of Samoa. The relationship of Tonga and Samoa people has been of old. From thence (Samoa) sprang our progenitors, the governing families of Tonga, as the family of Tui Tonga and Tui Kanokupolu.

What I dont get is why Tongans seem so clueless of the Samoan origins of there rulers?

Samoan History is Fascinating the only problem with Samoans today is many are only raised learning the history of there own island or village and not Samoa as a whole. When you learn Samoan History as a whole you will begin to learn the links and connections of Samoans not only to each other but to other islands.

When you start to learn Samoan History as a whole you begin to learn about individual Chiefs and Warriors who were famous in Samoa:

* Le Tagaloa Funefeai (Savaii)- Fierce War Chief famous for his fleet of war canoes.

* Tamafaiga (Manono)- War Chief feared by many and was powerful during his time.

* Malietoa (Tuna & Fata)(Upolu/Savaii)- The Warrior Line of Chiefs who defeated the Fierce Tui Tonga Talakaifaiki.

* Tupa'imatuna (Savaii)- Defeated the great Fijian War Chief Tui Lautala.

* Vaea and Va'atausili (Savaii/Upolu)- Vaea had an altercation with Tui Fiti in which Tui Fiti begged for his life to be spared and offered his daughter named Apaula to Vaea in exchange for his life, the Samoan Chief Vaea accepted. Vaea and Apaula lived happily together in which she became pregnant, to cut a long story short Tui Fiti and his sons end up killing the baby of Apaula and Vaea this is where Va'atausili the brother of Vaea comes into play. Va'atausili travels to Fiji and kills the sons of Tui Fiti etc... etc... etc....

* Tupu Tafa'ifa Fonoti (Upolu/Savaii)- The great King who fought a war against his own brother and sister for Kingship. He was famous for his fleet of canoes known as Va'a O Fonoti.

* Tupu Tafa'ifa Salamasina (Upolu/Savaii)- The first Tupu Tafa'ifa of all islands west of Manu'a. She was by far one of the most Royal queens of Samoa for she possessed the Royal blood of Tui Atua, Tui A'ana, Tui Manu'a, Tui Tonga, Tui Fiti etc... etc.... During her reign no wars took place and Samoa was at piece for the first time in a long time.

* Tui Manu'a Alia Matua (Manu'a/Rarotonga)- This Tui Manu'a was famous for his War Canoe called Va'afasifolau (Boat for Slaughtering Voyages). This canoe is the same Canoe he used to travel to the Cook Islands in which he establishes a Royal Line known as the Makea/Karika line. Alia was known as Karika in the Cook Islands.

* Ama Of Safata (Upolu)- This Samoan War Chief ended up traveling to Tonga with many of his warriors and village people etc... His daughter Tohuia married a Tui Haatakalaua giving birth to Ngata who became the first Tui Kanokupolu (Flesh/Heart of Upolu Chief). This Line is the current ruling line in Tonga.

* Too many famous Samoan warriors and Chiefs to name them all this isnt even half of them though.

Now when you learn about Samoan History as a whole you dont only learn about the various individual Chiefs and Warriors but you learn of the connections of Samoa to other islands and how many Kings of Polynesia originated from Samoa for example:

Taufa'afau Tupou 1 (King Of Tonga):

* I George, having just returned from Samoa, think proper to inform you of the reason of my voyage there, and the cause of my interfering with the people of Samoa. The relationship of Tonga and Samoa people has been of old. From thence (Samoa) sprang our progenitors, the governing families of Tonga, as the family of Tui Tonga and Tui Kanokupolu.

David Kalakaua (King Of Hawaii):

* A leader was found in Pilikaekae of Samoa who migrated to Hawaii with a goodly number of retainers and was promptly established in the vacant sovereignty while Pa'ao continued in the role of HIGH priest. Pili extended his authority over the 6 districts of Hawaii.

This isnt including the various other islands who claim Kings or original ancestors from Samoa. Be back later with more info.

Moalale'o is my clan, I have heard nothing about it being of Samoan origin, we come from Pulotu (Koloa, Vava'u) we originate from the Ha'afuluhao, we are the gate keepers of the underworld. No Samoan connection at all but we do have ties with the Fiji Ratu lineage.

The air to the throne will never be extinct,as you can see the royals of Tonga are still going hard making babies to carry on their bloodline, unless all the Tongan bloodline of the royals are extinct then yes Fiji will get a chance, but Never!...The Royals are very clever

Gauifalei

You are actually correct. In the past the Fijian Chiefs of the Fale Fisi who married Tui Tonga's sisters, there off springs only recieved High Rank but never the throne.

Samoans on the other hand had the honor of taking the throne in Tonga hence so many Tui Tonga's had Samoan Blood.
