heres another samoan/chinese surname i havent seen on your list.....Lui-Yuen. i was told this was the surname my grandfather changed his original name to. im pretty sure i know all the Lui-Yuens out there. he has a son in Hawaii, 1 still in Samoa and the other in New Zealand.also had 2 daughters who im sure are both still living in samoa. some different interpretations of the name Luiyuen, LuiYuen, Lui-yuen. Grandfathers first name (as on his headstone) AhGugi. sound familiar to anyone? HOLLA BACK!!!

Talofa, My surname is Roache and my fathers family are from Saleufi (extended family live in other Upolu villages). My great great grandfather Frank is believed to be from Ireland but some say he may have come from France. My research is inconclusive but I tend to believe he's Irish. The name Kuresa is mentioned in earlier posts. My mother is a Kuresa and its not a Fijian name, although some of the Kuresa's were born there when my great grandfather Iiga was a missionary there (my grandfather was born in Fiji but is German/Samoan). Kuresa is the Samoan translation of Cyrus from the bible. The Kuresa family is of German descent and adopted the name Kuresa after the war. I'm unclear why it was changed but the originally family name is German.
