Promises made by U.S. leaders cannot be trusted, former Soviet president Mikhail Gorbachev said in an interview with The Daily Telegraph published on Wednesday.
"The Americans promised that NATO wouldn't move beyond the boundaries of Germany after the Cold War, but now half of central and eastern Europe are members, so what happened to their promises? It shows they cannot be trusted," he said in Paris.
He also said that Washington's claims that a missile defense system it is planning to build in central Europe was aimed exclusively at countering the threat from so-called rogue states could not be believed either.

3 It's OK. In the future USA proved to be a fraud in the international politics. They won NATO expansion but they lost respect in eyes of the entire World. They are stinky scums and serial killer. |

It is sure that USA is not to be trusted too much. I am personally against counstruction of anti-missile shield in Poland because wouldn't get anything from USA for this.
However I don't trust Russia even more. |

1 And as far as the missle sheild is concerned, Russia has many missles in Kallingrad and Belarus but I guess that is ok ? And what does the USA owe Europe for a missle shield? We are doing this so we don't have to go to Europe again for another World War. We have already done this twice last century while some European country's did NOTHING to try and stop Hitler. |

1 Oh look, another immigrant who lives in the US espousing how evil and terrible the US is and how great things are in the old country. Makes you wonder...why are you still here if it is so bad? |

1 Hate to burst your bubble but the U.S. is viewed as the evil empire around the world and is the greatest threat to peace in the world. Perhaps when you get off the drugs and your head clears, you may see this also. |

1 I don't think this person is from Bulgaria at all. Have you noticed that in the last day, people from all over the world are popping up here slandering Ukraine and the US? They all have the same message and all curiously have the same writing style. People from Greece, Italy, Denmark, Germany, Texas, and Columbus have converged here all at once, and yet the prolific writer "Sic" has mysteriously disappeared today. How odd... |

It isn't just this topic...look at all the recent topics on this forum...infact they are even bumping new topics. Not in the last year has this many differen't people posted on the Russia forum as has happened in the past few days. Bulgaria, Germany, Poland, Greece, etc...it's been a pattern for two days now. Take a look at some of the topics on here, becouse I know which ones are posted in World Forum and what ones are posted exclusively in Russia and Ukraine forums and it's not been the World forum topics that they have been spamming on. World forums you get your usual US wingnutts posting on there...you can see that by looking at the World forum topics that show up also on this forum. Now take a look at the topics that are only in the Ukriane and Russia forums. Those are the ones they have been hitting on. I have even had a few of them posting on the Belarus forum lately, and that forum is dead all the time but for a few of us that post on there occasianly. |

1 But Gorbachev is correct the USA can not be trusted either. Not because of lies though. In the USA when events occur it is the political reality of the moment and not long-term planning that generally prevails. They do not plan for the future. There is no "if it does not work what do we do in a few years?". |

I'l be the first one to admit Bush rarely if ever plans for the future....our current Iraq and economic situation is evidence of that. But allowing eastern European country's into NATO is preparing for the future and NATO screwed up big time for bowing down to Putin and putting the screws to Ukriane. I'm not trying to sound like a right wing zealot, but if you look at the trend of Russian/Kremlin politics in regards to nationalization, freedom of speech, censored media, elections, appointed Goveners of Oblast, Putin changing history books, NASHI, Putins support of Lukashenko's regime, etc, etc... NATO still has a purpose. Granted it's not what the US always thinks it is, but right now it's needed. http://russophobe.blogspot.com/2008/03/boris-... <--- Follow the money.:) It's the same with Bush, Cheney, and Haliburton Co. in regards to Iraq War....follow the money trail. |
