I was always taught to be straight forward when dealing with most issues as it portrays honesty, and eliminates misunderstandings that eventually can lead to confrontation.

Russia has done neither and now appears corrupt and appears guarded. We all are thinking, what is she hiding?

As my background is chemistry, I'd bet that Russia is fooling around trying to mask the Dioxin that it produces and or change the ingredients it uses in it. This takes time and hence the stall.

Russia also appears to not want samples to leave the country because the Ukrainian test results will become public. The question will then become, who else has been poisoned with a matching sample of this chemical.

Granted that this is all just before an election, this whole issue is a little suspect in the first place, but the truth is the truth and one way or another Russia needs to show the Ukrainian people that she supports them.

If Yushchenko was really poisoned with Dioxin, how come his face now is not as disfigured as it was and is improving and almost coming to normal? If he was poisoned with Dioxin, he wouldn't have survived this long and his facial disfigurement would have been permanent. He wasn't even diagnosed properly at the time, this whole dioxin thing is what a certain English fool of a doctor suggested after "diagnosing" Yu. by looking at hims on the screen of his TV.

Oh and now you are a Dioxin expert. How do you know what his face should look like? How is it that you are an expert in this case? How come you are defending a state that does not want to cooperate?

Ask yourself these questions first, then judge the local authorities.

Your article is from Dec. 15, 2004 and sure might have some information at that time but is hardly credible. Look at the news source?

We are in year three of the investigation and the fact is that dioxin has been detected in Yushchenko's blood. Independant labs have confirmed it. That is what they are trying to match.

Read something from a more credible news service.

Lets look at the facts of the case:

1) Soviet Russia has a history of poisoning opponents under the former KGB.

2) Dioxin was detected in Yushchenkos blood.

3) In 2004 Yushchenko was one of two leading candidates for President of Ukraine. His platform was to move Ukraine farther away from Russian dependence and influence.

4) Yushchenko suffered illness after a dinner at the Ukrainian security service, Sept 2004.

5) Only four labs worldwide manufacture dioxin, which although occurs naturally in very low concentrations,is typically a man made compound. Ie Agent Orange.

6) Three of the four labs have submitted Dioxin samples to Ukrainian authorities who have tested them with no match.

7) The last lab, Russian, has refused to send Dioxin samples to Ukraine.

Background:
In 2004, a notable individual case of dioxin poisoning, Ukrainian politician Viktor Yushchenko was exposed to the second-largest measured dose of dioxins, according to the reports of the physicians responsible for diagnosing him. This is the first known case of a single high dose of TCDD dioxin poisoning, and was diagnosed only after a toxicologist recognized the symptoms of chloracne while viewing television news coverage of his condition.(2006) "NTP technical report on the toxicology and carcinogenesis studies of 2,3,7,8-tetrachlorodibenzo-p-d ioxin (TCDD)

You be the judge.

I would really hesitate to call the BBC -- the British government-run thing -- a credible news service.

If you don't recognize the BBC, then you would not accept the Canadian CBC, or the American NBC or ABC.

All these networks, operate as independent information services and are not manipulated by Government, nor by special interest businesses. The BBC has a great reputation for news worthyness and probably has the highest rating of any other news service.

Please name a service that is more professional and unbiased.

I think J. Raimondo is professional and unbiased.
Here's more from him on the subject of Yushchie(a somewhat newer article).

Professional maybe but unbiased, I'm not so sure. Lets not forget that this article is written as one man's opinion. He has not done any research, or dug down deep under cover. He is not reporting the news. He is only expressing his opinion. That is not news. That is he is making an editorial comment.

The site ' antiwar.com ' is biased against the US government. That's his slant.

It's quite a big leap to say the color revolutions are all US made up. Come on. These are real people in real countries we are talking about. They are concerned over real issues. Look how the Party of Regions has been steadily loosing support over the last two months and will end up in opposition in the next parliament. This the will of the people in a Democracy under the leadership of someone who cares more about his people than his own popularity.
