Crimea's lifeline runs through Ukraine

Electricity, water, gas, food: Crimea is supplied mainly via the Ukrainian mainland. That could change - for the worse - following the peninsula's disputed referendum this Sunday on joining Russia.

Nobody can stop the Crimeans from deciding which country they want to be a part of.

If the vast majority of Crimeans vote to secede from the Ukraine and join Russia. There's very little Obama and Kerry can do to stop Crimea from becoming part of Russia.

Not even your father Uncle Sam can stop the inevitable from happening, should the results of the referendum turn out as Putin and pro-Russia supporters expect it to.

The Ukrainians have decided to join the EU and the US aboard the sinking Titanic. That's their choice.

The Crimeans shouldn't be stopped from exercising their democratic right if they don't want to be in the same boat as the Ukraine and instead want to be in the protective embrace of Mother Russia.

The west forced a regime change in Kiev because the democratically elected govt. of Viktor Yanukovych rejected the doomed EU and instead wanted to join the future economic powerhouse of the Eurasian Union. Which would be led by Russia and China.

Now the west is trying to force Crimea to stay in the same quagmire as the Ukraine. Despite the majority of Crimeans rejecting the new western backed puppet regime in Kiev.

The west enforces it's own version of freedom and democracy by stifling the freedom and democratic rights of anyone who isn't toeing the west's line.

The west should stop it's blatant hypocrisy.

Not surprising, because any country (other than the biggest and most powerful ones) that has the audacity to vote against the US led proposal can expect a US led regime change knocking at their door very soon.

The U N ? What a joke ! It is a servant to American Foreign Interests and its infusion of cash to keep it running. Thank God for The Veto that can stop the American behemoth from working its will around the world, which it pretty much does any way. Putin is right about the fall of The Soviet Union being the biggest calamity of The 20th Century. It left only one Super Power to work its will with impunity. I for one am thankful for a new and more powerful Russia to stop the nonsense and hold us more accountable. There is no American Politician who exhibits an ability to connect with his citizens the way Putin does. May he live and rule long even if it is as a benevolent dictator.
