Even from the most anti-West perspective, it is difficult to see how anyone could call Assad a "hero". How does he qualify as such? By killing protestors against his government?
By killing AlQaeda terrorists and Islamic extremists! You know, the scumbags who set off car bombs on busy streets, and shoot mortars into college classrooms.

Assad's army will bombard Damascus on a DAILY BASIS. EVRY SINGLE DAY for months, heavy artillery is used on ancient Damascus. At this rate Damascus will be a collection of ruins and dust. Yes, some rebels have acquired several mortars and fired up to a dozen rounds a day into the city. Compared to heavy artillery rounds that may weigh 30 kg each however, these mortars are insignificant. Assad's army probably wouldn'y bother with mortar rounds against the city

Insignificant, when these rebel slime balls target innocent students in a school classroom? We are dealing with the lowest from of humanity, and Assad has every right to pummel them all into dust!

How exactly is he their "future"? What has Assad done in his regime, pre-war, to benefit Syria as a whole?

Assad's popularity is now below 30%, Damascus is being surrounded, Rebels are getting larger weapons, Rebels are being trained, military sites are being taken over by Rebels, soooooooo What do you really think will happen to Assad, his family and the Regime???

I think escaping is out of the question as no one wants him to go into exile in their country because he no longer has the billions.

Where have you been hiding, the US announce a few weeks ago that it would train Syrian Rebels, and I for 1 am for it. the Rebels have done an amazing job fighting the SAA and now with more weapons and training they should be able to bring the Civil War to and end and remove Assad and the Regime for good.

Well they have helped the Rebels to succeed in their efforts to oust Assad. They are nasty people and hopefully will be contained after the War is over and they are sent home, then the Syrians will have their country back after 40 years of abuse.

Personally, as an Asian student of international affairs, I think there is no real black-and-white answer to this conflict. Either way, whatever path is taken, blood will be shed and there will be international condemnations.

However, I believe, after carefully reading all these comments, that perhaps the best and most realistic option is doing all that is possible to allow the moderate elements of the Free Syrian Army to take power while restraining the more volatile ones.

It is not the perfect solution, and I believe that the West should not have at all meddled with this situation, but it is the only one that may succeed.

The current civil war in Syrian pose a real threat to the survival of Israel and the expansion of Al-Quida and terrorist activities accorss the globe. The Arab Spring will cause the globalization of terrorist and it is a reasl threat to the world.

Palestines have been for years been traumotized by Israelites, they were denied and depribed their rights on their own land. They have been fighting for years, Muslim brotherhood has grown to its extreme and attacked to another muslim is an attack to all. This is a feelings of mistreatment and turtored the muslims of Arab and of course the world have develope but it is not possible to attack Israel. therefore people have bin waiting for the right moment and this is the moment.

After the over throw of Assad regime, the very needed wearpns are now in the hands of terrorists and the next targets is Israel. The complete destruction of Israel and the new Palestians state will be established to bring all Palestaines back to their home land and another exiles of Jews.

Terrorists are now having high powered weapons-its a real threat
