So being a fair minded American means attacking America for things which it does, but not attacking Russia for doing the same things?

Well well changing times in previous dealings the shoot first ask questions later policy was employed. Maybe since the Russian military shot down a passenger plane and lied to the world, only to be embarrassed at the United Nations assembly by the United States as they played the audio of the Russian pilot and his command which clearly showed he was forced by command to kill civilians even after objecting! Throw in some satellite footage and suddenly Russia doesn't blindly shoot at civilians with electrical, mechanical or just simply lost their path problems. Now if only Putin would keep his own bombers in his own country and stop international flights over sovereign countries. Note Mr.Putin when your first strike nuclear bombers cross into Canada for some unknown fetish of intimidation we keep are F-18's at a distance and use political means to ask you to behave properly and respect our borders. Now hmm if we sent military aircraft into Russia would you behave the same. Just learned last week the last commander of the space station a Canadian pilot was the real fella who took the cockpit picture of a soviet mig in the Cold War, that actual event was portrayed in the movie Top Gun, by American pilots.

How do you think the USA generally reacts to an unidentified Cessna flying towards south Florida or the US/Mexican border?

Not to mention one appearing over a large American city.

?????

Most of us would consider it good common sense for anyone to scramble jets to investigate. Unless of course you are in the smuggling business. Are you?

Or when a Middle Eastern nation attacked the USS Liberty targeting the US navy in international waters. Wonder why there was no response.

How do you define friendly? If they are targeting your military assets in international waters they should be blown out of the sky.
