Are you sure polak. They seemed to be very suportive of them during WW2. They had no problems giving them free hand to do what ever they want with Poland.

here is a Russian view of brits from a truly quality newspaper :

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/article-515...

here the same quality paper reports on the "mafia state" wikileaks

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/debate/article-133...

as this paper is targeted at "middle England" and as few Brits visit Russia, it is likely that many here now express the same views. To many others it's probably a mysterious, unfriendly place associated primarily with the Cold war, strong women, vodka, athletics and ballet dancing. The other associations will be the ex "oligarghs" who have made high profile investments here.

Who cares?

They are nothing but a failed empire and an insignificant little pissant island state going down the central banker's toilet now. The Falklands was a valiant effort but really a couple Exocets just made their attempt at regaining past glory well and truly pathetic.

I think the Brits must love the Russians, at least as much as they love the Arabs or anybody else that they can sell overpriced property to and pick a few plumb financial crumbs off the floor in order to hang onto their last vestiges of empire syndrome. ;-)

Well you paint a very rosy picture of the UK. The fact is that compared to your backward Russia the UK is a free, technologically advanced and very wealthy country where the standard of living and infrastructure for the average citizen cannot be dreamed of even by your average Russian peasant. In fact you filthy Ruskies admire and like the place so much that many of yoru so-called "elite"(LOL!!) virtually live in the UK permanently. They have voted with their feet regarding where they prefer to live. Enough said Tovarish?

Unfortunately, most Brits are exceptionally disrespectful to and wary of Russians. Even if they were brought up here, went to their schools and if they speak English fluently and identify themselves as BRITISH they will anyway
snub them. I know Russians have a lot of negative traits but hey, at least we speak up and are honest about them, unlike the Brits who just think their failiures are part of their 'charm' and in some kind of way 'funny".
What can I say? These people are islanders. They will always stay islanders.
In comparison with an average Russian some of them really are dirty, uneducated, narrow-minded plebs. On the other hand, though, to be fair they certainly know how to run their country in a fairer manner than the Russians.
At least over here you have a certain right to free speech. Maybe that's about all that you have or ever will have but hey - as the Brits say " every little helps".

Not all Russians here belong to some kind of special ' Elite". Get your facts straight, will you, unless you WANT to make a fool of yourself.

Most Brits are completely brainwashed by the media which is Russophobe, just like it used to be anti-communist. Russia has a poor image in Britain, not helped when every little incident is purposely highlighted.
Even a travel documentary across Russia by Dimblebey was punctuated by anti-Russian clichés and put down, endorsing the view that Russia is a backward, uncivilised country. The choice of topic chosen was symptomatic of someone eager to do a 'demolition job' on Russia and not to present its best aspects.
The Brits who are lucky to actually visit Russia come back surprised; it's actually a very nice country with plenty of contrasts, which has 'warts and all' like any other country.

Britons blame Russians for corruption although in the meantime let every corrupted bureaucrat to live in London. For instace Luzhkov and his beloved wife has own real estate in London. So Britons have not any moral principles. What all they need just a money.

I think you have just had a bad experience. British culture is completely different from East Euro culture, but Brits are very tolerant compared to a lot of Europearn countries particularly to people who are self deprecating and non judgemental. One thing they really don't like are people who complain all the time. They have their faults but at least they like themselves a fair amount.

that would come back to the sense of fair play and general "live and let live" philosophy. They may not think it's fair to have corruption in russia but they will also think it's unfair to stop someone living where they please just because you don't agree with their personal morals.

that's a recent thing with the media post the plutonium incident and the outfall from that. During the thatcher-gorbachev era Russia was the darling of the press.

he didn't say they did. Those who do not belong to the elite live virtually underground existences because they are often working with no permit.

there are also people in between but they are not very visible. The most common non elite visible group are those who have married brits.

or perhaps you are too cynical... Britain tends to be a sanctuary for all sorts. There is a lot of idealism around. It's not a materialistic society compared to many countries i've been to. People go through the materialistic motions if it's expected but they are equally happy with shabby chic. Very difficult culture for some to understand. Unwritten rules abound.
