Why? If your goal is to visit a city like Saint Petersburg as a tourist you would want to stay at least a week or two. Except for smugglers who would want to just fly in... then fly right back out in a couple of days?

A three day rule makes no sense to me.

That's very welcomed news!

For too long Russia has applied strict reciprocity, and asked visa for people entering, if they came from countries asking visas for Russian tourists.

This has been counter-productive and hampered tourism in Russia. It is hoped that this new measure will be adopted and lead to a mutual lifting of visa restrictions between Russia and Western countries.

Russia is part of Europe.

People can already visit St. Petersburg without a visa if they're on a cruise ship but the article said this new rule would apply to cultural events like the Opera and Ballet Week.

2 or 3 days aren't enough to visit Russia.

You could spend that in Saint Petersburg alone.

sounds bureaucratic and complex to implement. What if the ballet is cancelled? Is the visa revoked at the last minute?

Maximko your sister might confirm that those "travelers" are there for a different purpose. This isn't the 60s anymore although even than plenty of hairy women areas were available in your country.

I'm sure a dried up old prune like yourself who would be traveling alone so 2-3 days would go by very slowly, but uther and his wife would probably have such a great time, 2 or 3 months would just fly by :)
