Kenosha Soldier Loses His Life In Qatar
Another Wisconsin soldier has made the ultimate sacrifice. Staff Sergeant Robert Basham of Kenosha died Saturday in Qatar.
Statement by Maj. Gen. Albert H. Wilkening on the death of Wisconsin Army National Guard Staff Sergeant Robert Basham:
The entire Wisconsin National Guard family joins me in mourning the loss of Staff Sergeant Robert J. Basham, who died Saturday in Doha, Qatar.
Staff Sergeant Basham first served his state and nation as a member of Headquarters Battery, 1st Battalion, 126th Field Artillery, before he was mobilized in 2005 for a year of overseas service in Kuwait with 2nd Battalion, 128th Infantry. As his fellow Wisconsin soldiers were returning to their homes last November, Staff Sergeant Basham volunteered for another tour of duty, this time with a Kansas National Guard unit with a mission inside Iraq.
