We are in the direct path of Hurricane Sandy and expecting widespread and extensive damage.

LIPA is already telling us to prepare for 7-10 days without power - LIPA sucks, even worse than PREPA which I believe is under Federal receivership. It's complete pandemonium; people are fighting in the gas stations and grocery stores. Cuomo already has the New York National Guard & New York State Defense Force on full alert.

It looks like it will make a direct hit on Ocean City, MD as of the 2pm NOAA forecast so hopefully Long Island will only get some coastal flooding.

Sandy's tail smacked some southern towns like Guayanilla (where the town's center flooded for the first time in over 15 yrs) and Yauco, where there were mountain slides.

Sandy's a witch!

Im about a half a mile away from the Great South Bay ... during Irene we only had basement flooding and we did not lose power beyond a few flickers so I am hopeful this won't be too bad.

Nope, you've got that wrong!

Hurricanes always originate in Mother Africa; cross the Atlantic; zoooommmmm up our azz...s, here in the Caribbean, and then off along the Eastern seaboard.

If you ask me, its the spirit of all our African ancestors uprooted from their motherland.

Indeed it seems that more often than not the hurricane paths resemble the slave trade routes ....

Nah, they bring them the Caribbean and the Tainos send them on to North America, though they should be sent to Spain.

Another good point, especially Portugal and Holland (who took slavery to a whole new level).
