Why Pierluisi's bill will get the statehood movement nowhere

If Puerto Rico has a vote presenting statehood yes or no the no vote will win.

Statehood yes vs no = no wins
Commonwealth yes vs no = no wins
Independence with or without a Compact of Free Association yes or no = no wins.

No option can win a straight yes or no vote.

Pierluisi's plan will allow the colony to win by default! Dumb move buddy.

First Question: Statehood yes or no = no wins
Second Question: Colony vs the 2 independence options = the colony wins because nobody wants separation from the United States.

This status issue will never be resolved.

This is what the PPD wants: multiple options to cause confusion so that no non-colonial option can win and the colony continues by default.

You see this on the El Nuevo Dia message boards for every status related article: calls to exclude groups ALAS, Boricua Ahora Es!, Iguladad, etc. Now posters are calling for the PIP to be refused official status (so that pro-independence types have no choice except to vote for the PPD).

There can only be one choice: Statehood vs Independence. If Independence wins then there can be a second vote on Free Association as you cannot have Free Association without first achieving full independence.

I also like the idea of a "rank your favorite options in order"

Hector Ferrer's 2011 proposal favored by the PPD:

"Do you wish to remain part of the United States?"
If yes then statehood vs colony = colony wins
If no then do nothing because the PPD believes in colonialism. Claim the result was unfair, confusing, made up, or due to a misunderstanding.
