"One-Way Tickets To Florida: Puerto Ricans Escape Island Woes"

According to the most recent census, the 4.6 million Puerto Ricans living on the U.S. mainland now surpass those on the island of Puerto Rico. For years, they've been migrating out of the U.S. Caribbean territory — many to escape the escalating crime rate and economic crisis.

Today, Florida replaces New York as the primary destination for Puerto Ricans coming to the U.S. In Osceola County, Fla., the population has tripled over the past two decades largely because of the migration. It's one of the nation's fastest growing areas, and about half of the population is Hispanic — most of them Puerto Rican.

I am in Cuba.

"Cuban-Americans have “perfected [corruption in government] in many ways to a fine art.” That is not correct, however, because if corruption is done that well, it is unnoticed and subtle. Corruption in Miami’s Cuban-American government has been crude, blatant and openly defiant."

http://www.popularsovranty.org/mdc.shtml

"Elena Diaz, a Cuban-American whose parents immigrated to Miami when she was a baby says,'This is the way it was in Cuba before Fidel Castro. I heard my parents talk about it that country was so corrupt. Corruption's what actually destroyed it and now they're doing the same thing here.'"

As far as the island goes I am as much Cuban as Lindsey Lohan is a safe driver.

Born there , came at 2 and it ends right there. I do speak the older Cuban version of Spanish not the "new" spanish which now comes from Cuba, tu sabes lo que estoy diciendo.

Most of the people in Cuba now except for the political activist you hear about are for the most part piranhas and those of us here are goldfish.

I find it funny when the Cuba libre bunch think they will return and carry on without having their throats slit for their shoes , add to that that Cuba will ALWAYS have rampant political and police corruption .

My next move is to the Keys and unlike my impulse move here which you correctly pointed out , I am waiting to see if after the Castro's are gone (1-2 yrs tops) will the keys now become like Hialeah.

No rush because I can not afford now to take the savage loss on my house which I am going to take regardless.
Foreclosures in my gated community are insane . Many Venezuelans , Colombians and the younger Cubans live way outside their means.

One thing for sure is NUNCA MAS compro en un gated community (otra cosa que hize sin pensar).

I will go back if Marco Rubio ever becomes president of the USA because at that point USA is on borrowed time before being destroyed ,plus trillions of dollars will be going to Cuba which is why Rubio is so supported here ,as corrupt Miami ex politicos are appointed in "rebuilding" Cuba (more like lining their own wallets and purses).

Destroyed? Destroyed by who or what?

Rubio won't be elected anyways, there are not enough Republicans left to win national elections. If RINO Romney and RINO McCain lost then there is no hope.

Destroyed by those I call the Miami 'MAFIA" aka politicians.

You want to win get a Bobby Jindal who has gone after corruption not a Marco Rubio who has NEVER lifted a finger against Miami Cuban corruption and even endorsed a corrupt pig Dave Rivera.

I do disagree as GOP can easily win with the correct candidate .

I like Rubio's cousin but not Rubio.

Rubio is not going to carry the PR and Mexican American vote and those are the votes the GOP wants.
If anything more and more dislike him.

Rubio isn't qualified but than again neither was Obama.

The GOP thinks that because he is Cuban that means other hispanics will vote for him but nothing could be further from the truth.

That is like saying Irish American because he is Irish American will carry the Anglo vote.

Romney ran a horrible campaign and the tea party pulling him to the insane right hurt him badly.
A less wishy washy candidate would have also helped.

Obama would have been beaten by a John Huntsman.

McCain lost due to Palin and people were tired of GOP after Bush plus the media did everything but perform oral sex on Obama.

BTW , Rubio was asked to run as VP but he said no . I believe his cousin and later found out he was asked but he felt that Romney was going to lose and that would be it for him.

With Rubio as VP Romney would have still lost Florida .
