La Gran Fiesta

La Gran Fiesta, " The Great Party", The Great Ball" or " The last Dance" , is one of the best Puerto Rican productions. It was Puerto Rico's candidate to the Oscars in 1985. It has great color, great photography, great music and a great historical script.....In this movie you can find some mysteries of the Puerto Rican dilemma, politics and culture. It contains an excellent representation of the struggle of Puerto Rico between two cultures, the Spaniard and the American. A VERY INTERESTING MOVIE!

Not a PR movie but a great movie about class of cultures with Romeo and Juliet throewn in was west side story.

Rita Moreno who had been an actress for 10 yrs prior said it was her defining movie.

"The members of the Sharks from Puerto Rico are taunted by the Jets, a Polish-American working-class group"

She has had alot of great movies . I love the George Lopez show but not as much when the daughter left, either way Rita plays Luisa Diaz on the show who is George's grandmother and even if you watch that show all year long and see every episode 5 times that particular episode is never aired in reruns and it was a great episode.

Did you like it?

Kind of a pamphletary movie; but well researched and acted.

By the way, did you like Ivonne Coll's act as a Ponce matron?

I loved her in the Godfather II, where she played a Cuban nightclub named Yolanda, remember?

Great entrance for a Hollywood rookie...LOL

Can't beat a whole stage with dancers and all the trimmings, a huge dancing water fountain as a backdrop and the camera on you (while you sing); even if it was for a few seconds.

LOL, it was Pacino, the whole time?

And all this time I thought it was...

...well, never mind...LOL

Leguizamo's an excellent actor. His role in Spike Lee's Summer Of Sam, with Adrien Brody and Mira Sorvino was way too much.

I mean, to be in the same scenes with those two monsters (Mira and Adrien), you've gotta be veeeery good!

LOL yes it was Pachino the entire time, don't worry all this time I thought John Leguizamo was Puerto Rican he even has the Nuyorican accent LOL but I recently found out he is of Colombian decent LOL. There's another "Carlitos rise to power" which is suppose to be the prequel of "Carlitos Way" with Jay Hernandez who looks just like a Nuyorican but he's Mexican.
