Are you Puerto Rican?.
100% Born and live in PR, but spent many years in the states.... But Dyckman is actually Inwood but due to its high concentration of Dominicans is more closely related to Washington Heights.. And for the record the girl I visited was a French exchange student... ooh La La....

Yes, i know.

Geographically. The heights only covers about roughly 30 blocks or so.

Unofficially it starts from 138th St all the way up to Inwood. Pretty big stretch.

The only area are Dominicans haven't really penetrated in "large numbers" is Fort Washington Ave and West. They simply cannot afford too and the Jews REFUSE to sell to them. That is their own little piece of Shangri la. Frankly, I don't blame them. The only immigrants who have been able to penetrate that community in any significant numbers as of the past 20 years or so have been the Russian Jews.

A medical professional or university academic does want anyone living near them who has music blasting at all hours of the day and night and has a ton of relatives and friends hanging out on the sidewalk. Ain't happening.

Yeah those Dominicans how dare they have family get togethers? Conversating in front of their buildings? Playing music loud enough to dance, what savages. They should be deep in their living rooms, having "dandy evenings" all 30 of them in one room listening to mozart and sipping on tea while having converstions about current events.... LOL....

No I understand you. It has a lot to do with "property values". Since the well off jews can go to their expensive country clubs and create all type of havoc, get drunk, dance, socialize and listen to music... I was def being silly.
