Mr Marc Anthony. A multiple award winning American entertainer of Puerto Rican descent whom we are all familiar with was booed off the baseball field by a racist crowd who called him a "sp*c" and a "Mexican" when he sang "God bless America".

Once again... This sad episode just reaffirms that our schools have not taught anything about Puerto Rican history to the vast majority of Americans who have been educated in our schools. Nearly 100 years of citizenship and some of us still have to deal with this madness from ignorant folks.

I believe i once shared with the forum that when i was in college a good friend of mine (who was directly from the island) and i once had a fellow dorm mate from Korea who actually had the audacity to ask us where do Puerto Ricans go when they have to change their money....LOL!

This is was a fellow classmmate in an institute of higher leaning asking this question...OK?!?!

==========
The more things change...The more they stay the same....
I like what Mark Anthony stated ,in reference, to himself. He stated "You cannot be any more of a Puerto Rican and a New Yorker than myself".
Vaya, Mark!...Eso es asi!

Racists and morons will always exist .. it's human nature to hate.

Some people still hate the Irish, some people still hate the Italians.

Unbelievable!

I watched him sing the anthem.
He sang it with heart.

Too much hate going around.

Desde que le hicieron lo mismo a Feliciano, se puede concluir que en casi 40 a;os no se ha adelantado casi nada, algunos gringos refuse to learn about their own country and its colonies.

At least, Mexico is, to each and every gringo, an ever present reality.

They think all Hispanics are Mexicans....ROTFLMAO!

The man's not even Puerto Rican, for crying out loud. Marc is a pure New Yorker, un puro NewYorican for us, Puerto Ricans, who keeps his family roots very close to his heart.

Were they booing him for being "Mexican" or for leaving JLo?

^ the quote Marc Anthony should have used in his interview.

When he went to Fortu;os inauguration, I said, great NewYoricans are backing us in our quest.

After I heard him call Puerto Rico, HIS COUNTRY, apparently, the statehooders was JLo and the guy's a colonialist.

At least, he referred to himself as a pure New Yorker.

Marc Anthony has exhibited pro-colony views for awhile. Right after last years referendum he said that "the wording was very confusing to many and the outcome is unclear" when asked if he believed that statehood won.

IMO living statehood while supporting the colony is the mark of a Class A hypocrite.

Well, he and JLO had a vacation home in PR as well as Miami. Although, their main residence is in the tony town of Brookville, NY.

He and JLO were planning to open up a movie studio the Eastern portion of the island. I'm not sure what stage the plan is in (if at all) since they have divorced.

He has done quite a bit for the island. He promotes it wherever he sings.

This is true and does it very proudly.

His command of Spanish is impeccable.
