Can anyone tell me if you can legally own a pistol, rifle or shotgun in Portugal.

You can own a rifle or shotgun with a permit and belong to a club. I never new anyone with a pistol other than GNR.

Thanks for the reply.

I've got a license here in Spain for pistol, rifle and shotgun. I've just bought a house in Portugal and I'm considering moving there but I do not want to leave my guns behind.

I've tried finding out on the Portugese Govt web site but to no avail. Should you bump into a Guardia Civil perhaps you could ask them about it..?

I'll do it next time I'm over but that will be months.

Cheers.

European Firearms Passport can be obtained in Spain. Single shot pistols, shot guns, and rifles are legal. The laws in Portugal are similar to Spain. you can obtain this permit I believe free of charge. Military devices, and automatic weapons are prohibited.

Thanks again Hillbilly.

Sorry to be picky, but when you say single shot pistols; do you mean semi-automatic/revolvers or a pistol with the capacity to hold one single round only? I ask because mine is 9mm and has a 20 round magazine.

Cheers!

Daily Horoscope for January 5

Libra

Don't put yourself through anything that isn't absolutely necessary, Libra. After all, why cook when others will gladly serve you at their house, or treat you to a wonderful meal at your favourite restaurant? Even when you assert yourself, there seems to be a wonderfully passive quality to your manner. Now that the universe has finally decided to give you some of what you want, make sure your wish list is short and don't be greedy.
