The Catholic Church, also known as the Roman Catholic Church, is the world's largest Christian church, with more than one billion members worldwide.[1] It is among the oldest institutions in the world and has played a prominent role in the history of Western civilisation.[2] The Catholic hierarchy is led by the Pope and includes cardinals, patriarchs and diocesan bishops. The Church teaches that it is the one true Church founded by Jesus Christ,[3][4] that its bishops are the successors of Christ's apostles and that the Pope is the sole successor to Saint Peter who has apostolic primacy.[5][note 1][6][note 2][note 3]
The Church maintains that the doctrine on faith and morals that it presents as definitive is infallible.[7][8][9][10][note 4] There are a variety of doctrinal and theological emphases within the Catholic Church,[11] including the Eastern Catholic Churches and religious communities such as the Jesuits, the Franciscans and the Dominicans. The Catholic Church is Trinitarian and defines its mission as spreading the Gospel of Jesus Christ,[12] administering the sacraments[13] and exercising charity.[14] Catholic worship is highly liturgical, focusing on the Mass or Divine Liturgy during which the sacrament of the Eucharist is celebrated. The Church teaches that bread and wine used during the Mass become the body and blood of Christ through transubstantiation. The Catholic Church practises closed communion and only baptised members of the Church in a state of grace are ordinarily permitted to receive the Eucharist.[15] Catholic social teaching emphasises support for the sick, the poor and the afflicted through the corporal works of mercy. The Catholic Church is the largest non-government provider of education and medical services in the world.[16] Catholic spiritual teaching emphasises spread of the Gospel message and growth in spiritual discipline through the spiritual works of mercy. The Church holds the Blessed Virgin Mary, as mother of Jesus Christ, in special regard and has defined four specific Marian dogmatic teachings, namely her Immaculate Conception without original sin, her status as the Mother of God,[17] her perpetual virginity and her bodily Assumption into Heaven at the end of her earthly life.[18][note 5] Numerous Marian devotions are also practised. The term "catholic" is derived from the Greek word καθ ολι κός (katholikos) meaning "universal" and was first used to describe the Church in the early 2nd century.[19] The term katholikos is equivalent to καθ όλο υ (katholou), a contraction of the phrase καθ ' ὅλο ;υ (kath' holou) meaning "according to the whole".[20] "Catholic Church" (he katholike ekklesia) first appears in a letter of St Ignatius written in about 110.[21] In the "Catechetical Discourses" of St. Cyril of Jerusalem, "Catholic Church" is used to distinguish it from other groups that also call themselves the church.[21][22] Since the East-West Schism of 1054, the church that remained in communion with the See of Rome continued to call itself "Catholic" while the Eastern churches have generally been known as "Orthodox" or "Eastern Orthodox".[23] Following the Reformation in the 16th century, the Church continued to use the term "Catholic" to distinguish itself from the various Protestant denominations that split off.[23] The name "Catholic Church" is the most common designation used in official church documents.[24] It is also the term which Paul VI used when signing documents of the Second Vatican Council.[25] However, Church documents produced by both the Holy See[26] and by certain national episcopal conferences[27] occasionally refer to the Roman Catholic Church. The Catechism of Pope Pius X published in 1908 also used the term "Roman" to distinguish the Catholic Church from other Christian communities who are not in full communion with the Church of Rome.[28] |

The Church holds that Christ instituted the papacy, upon giving the keys of Heaven to Saint Peter. Represented in a painting by Pietro Perugino.
The Church's hierarchy is headed by the Bishop of Rome, the Pope, who is the leader of the worldwide Catholic Church composed of the Latin Church and the Eastern Catholic Churches in full communion with the see of Rome. The current Pope, Benedict XVI, was elected in a papal conclave on 19 April 2005. The office of the pope is known as the Papacy. His ecclesiastical jurisdiction is called the "Holy See" (Sancta Sedes in Latin), or the "Apostolic See" (meaning the see of the Apostle Saint Peter).[29][30] Directly serving the Pope is the Roman Curia, the central governing body that administers the day-to-day business of the Catholic Church. The pope is also head of state of Vatican City State,[31] a sovereign city-state entirely enclaved within the city of Rome. The legal entity of the Holy See is distinct from that of the Vatican City state and all foreign relations are accredited to the Holy See.[32] Following the death or resignation of a pope,[note 7] members of the College of Cardinals who are under age 80 meet in the Sistine Chapel in Rome to elect a new pope.[34] The position of cardinal is a rank of honour bestowed by popes on certain ecclesiastics, such as leaders within the Roman Curia, bishops serving in major cities and distinguished theologians. Although this election, known as a papal conclave, can theoretically elect any male Catholic as pope, since 1389 only fellow cardinals have been elevated to that position.[35] For advice and assistance in governing, the Pope may turn to the College of Cardinals, the next highest level in the hierarchy.[36] The Catholic Church is made up of 23 autonomous particular churches, each of which accepts the paramountcy of the Bishop of Rome on matters of doctrine.[37] These churches, also known by the Latin term sui iuris churches, are communities of Catholic Christians whose forms of worship reflect different historical and cultural influences rather than differences in doctrine. In general, each sui iuris church is headed by a patriarch or high ranking bishop,[38] and has a degree of self-governance over the particulars of its internal organisation, liturgical rites, liturgical calendar and other aspects of its spirituality. The largest of the particular churches is the Latin Church which reports over one billion members. It developed in southern Europe and North Africa. Then it spread throughout Western, Central and Northern Europe, before expanding to the rest of the world. The Latin Church considered itself to be the oldest and largest branch of Western Christianity,[39] a heritage of certain beliefs and customs originating in various European countries, some of which are shared also by many Christian denominations that trace their origins to the Protestant Reformation.[39] Relatively small in terms of adherents compared to the Latin Church, but important to the overall structure of the Church, are the 22 self-governing Eastern Catholic Churches with a membership of 17.3 million as of 2010.[40] The Eastern Catholic Churches follow the traditions and spirituality of Eastern Christianity and are composed of Eastern Christians who have always remained in full communion with the Catholic Church or who have chosen to reenter full communion in the centuries following the East-West Schism and earlier divisions. Some Eastern Catholic Churches are governed by a patriarch who is elected by the synod of the bishops of that church,[41] others are headed by a major archbishop,[42] others are under a metropolitan,[43] and others consist of individual eparchies.[44] The Roman Curia has a specific department, the Congregation for the Oriental Churches, to maintain relations with them. Examples of Eastern Catholic Churches can be found in the side bar "Major Sui Iuris Churches". |

Dioceses, parishes and religious orders:
Individual countries, regions, or major cities are served by local particular churches known as dioceses or eparchies, each overseen by a Catholic bishop. Each diocese is united with one of the worldwide "sui iuris" particular churches, such as the Latin Church, or one of the many Eastern Catholic Churches. As of 2008, the Catholic Church altogether comprised 2,795 dioceses.[45] The bishops in a particular country or region are often organised into an episcopal conference,[46] which aids in maintaining a uniform style of worship and co-ordination of social justice programmes within the areas served by member bishops. Dioceses are further divided into numerous individual communities called parishes, each staffed by one or more priests, deacons and/or lay ecclesial ministers.[47] Parishes are responsible for the day to day celebration of the sacraments and pastoral care of the Catholic laity. Ordained Catholics, as well as members of the laity, may enter into consecrated life either on an individual basis, as a hermit or consecrated virgin, or by joining an institute of consecrated life (a religious institute or a secular institute) in which to take vows confirming their desire to follow the three evangelical counsels of chastity, poverty and obedience.[48] Examples of institutes of consecrated life are the Benedictines, the Carmelites, the Dominicans, the Franciscans, the Missionaries of Charity and the Sisters of Mercy.[48] Women constitute the majority of members of the consecrated life within the church. In 2006, the number of nuns worldwide had been in decline, but women still constituted around 753,400 members of the consecrated life, of a total worldwide membership of around 945,210. Of these members, 191,810 were men - including around 136,171 priests. Women were engaged in a variety of vocations, from contemplative prayer, to teaching, providing health care and working as missionaries.[49] Further information: Catholicism by country Total church membership (both lay and clerical) in 2007 was 1.147 billion people,[50] having increased from 437 million in 1950 [51] and 654 million in 1970.[52] On 31 December 2011, membership was 1.196 billion, an increase of 11.54% over the same date in 2000, which was only slightly greater than the rate of increase of the world population (10.77%). The increase was 33.02% in Africa, but only 1.17% in Europe. It was 15.91% in Asia, 11.39% in Oceania and 10.93% in the Americas. As a result, Catholics were 17.77% of the total population in Africa, 63.10% in the Americas, 3.05% in Asia, 39.97% in Europe, 26.21% in Oceania and 17.09% of the world population. Of the world's Catholics, the proportion living in Africa grew from 12.44% in 2000 to 14.84% in 2008, while those living in Europe declined from 26.81% to 24.31%.[1] Membership in the Catholic Church is attained through baptism or reception into the Church (for individuals previously baptised in non-Catholic Christian churches).[53] For some years until 2009, if someone formally left the Church, that fact was noted in the register of the person's baptism. At the end of 2007, Vatican records listed 408,024 Catholic priests in the world, 762 more than at the beginning of the year. The main growth areas have been Asia and Africa, with 21.1% and 27.6% growth respectively. In North and South America, numbers have remained approximately the same, while there was a 6.8% decline in Europe and a 5.5% decrease in Oceania from 2000 to 2007.[50] |

Judged: 4 3 2 Raping Damaso, The Catholic Church is not a Christian Church!!! It is a "universal" church for the word "catholic" means universal!!! The Origin Of The Name "Catholic" Where did the name Roman Catholic Apostolic Church originate? How did it come into existence? Who formulated it? Is it found in the Bible? These are but some questions which will aid any truth seeker in determining whether he should stay in or leave the Catholic Church. From the book, Discourses on the Apostles' Creed, written by a Catholic priest, Clement H. Crock, we are told thus: "In 1870, at the Vatican Council, the name 'Roman Catholic Church' was proposed, but it was rejected. The bishops assembled unanimously decided upon this official name:'The Holy Catholic Apostolic Roman Church,' as descriptive of Christ's Church." This short quotation from a Catholic book amply answers the questions as to the origin of the official name of the Roman Church. By contrast, Jesuit author Francis B. Cassily wrote in his book, Religion: Doctrine and Practice, on pages 442-443: "5. Did Jesus Christ establish a Church? Yes, from all history, both secular and profane, as well as from the Bible considered as a human document, we learn that Jesus Christ established a Church, which from the earliest times has been called after Him the Christian Church or the Church of Christ." Here is a priest who openly taught in question-and-answer form that the Church established by Christ is called the Church of Christ. Understandably, Mr. Cassily could not have stated otherwise, because he used the Bible as his reference. Does the Bible indeed teach about the Church built by Christ and how it was called by the Apostles? In Matthew 16:18, our Lord Jesus Christ declared in no uncertain terms: "I will build my Church." Anyway, the Apostles called the Church built by Christ as the Church of Christ [Iglesia Ni Cristo][Romans 16:16; Acts 20:28, Lamsa]. How then should there be people who should change it? How should people then discard the name of Christ from His Church and replace it with another? Could the name of Christ be ignored and changed with another? How significant is the name of Christ? The Bible authoritatively stated in Acts 4:10, 12 that there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved. On the basis of name alone, Catholics who are interested in the welfare of their souls should not hesitate to abandon the Catholic Church. The Catholic Church is not the true Church for the name of Christ is absent in her!!! The name of Christ is important for it is the only name given by God for mankind to be saved!!! Roman Catholicism is not the first-century Church of Christ but the fulfillment of the apostasy because of Roman state and Catholic persecutions!!! Real Elias Ibarra Guam |

Judged: 2 2 1 Raping Damaso, It is correct that the Roman Catholic Church played a major role in the history of Western Civilization!!! She had a leading role in the murders of the first-century Christians and others after that!!! Aside from the emperors of the Roman Empire, who else persecuted, caused sufferings for, and killed the early Christians? On page 770 of the same book, it says: "Leo l (A.D. 440-461),... He proclaimed himself Lord of the Whole Church; advocated Exclusive Universal Papacy; said that Resistance to his authority was a Sure Way to Hell; advocated Death Penalty for heresy." Pope Leo l proclaimed himself as lord of the whole Church. He advocated exclusive papacy. He said that resistance to his authority was a sure way to hell.. He decided that the punishment for heresy would be death. What did the popes of the Catholic Church use as an instrument to kill heretics or those who objected to thier doctrines? On page 777, this is declared: "Innocent lll (1198-1216). Most powerful of all the Popes .... Ordered the Extermination of Heretics, Instituted the Inquisition. "The Inquisition called the 'Holy Office,' was instituted by Pope Innocent lll, and perfected under the second following Pope, Gregory lX. It was the Church Court for Detection and Punishment of Heretics. Under it everyone was required to inform against heretics. Anyone suspected is liable to torture, without knowing the name of his accuser. The proceedings were secret. The Inquisitor pronounced sentence, and the victim was turned over to Civil Authorities to be imprisoned for life, or to be burned. "Later on the Inquisition was the main agency in the Papacy's effort to crush the Reformation. It is stated that in the 30 years between 1540 and 1570 no fewer than 900,000 Protestants were put to death. "The Inquisition was the Most Infamous and Devilish Thing in Human History. It was devised by Popes, and used by them for 500 years, to maintain their power." On the detailed historical record regarding the atrocities committed by the Papacy of the Catholic Church, there is no need for them to be repeated here. The use of the Inquisition or of what they call the Holy Office is a great evil with nothing like it. Killing millions is indeed a prominent role in Western Civilization!!! Improve your low I.Q.!!! Learn fron history by examining the criminal minds of Roman Catholic leaders who claim to be Holy Fathers and "VICARIVS FILII DEI" (Vicar of the Son Of God)but were doing exactly what Christ prohibited!!! Judged: 1 1 1 Raping Damaso, Great indeed is the role of the Roman Catholic Church in Western Civilization!!! Can it be denied that the popes of the Catholic Church killed those who did not want to follow their doctrines? In a book of the Catholic Church entitled, The truth About the Inquisition, written by John A. O'Brien, Nihil Obstat by Thomas E. Dillon, Imprimatur by John F. Noll, on pages 47-48, this is stated: "Church's Responsibility....The [Catholic] Church cannot escape responsibility for the use of torture nor for the burning of victims at the stake. The Church in the person of her pontiffs was responsible for the use of torture; this cruel practice was introduced by Innocent lV in 1252. The pontiff tries to defend the use of torture by classifying heretics with thieves and murderers; a mere comparison is his only argument. This law of Innocent lV was renewed and confirmed by Alexander lV on November 30, 1259, and by Clement lV on November 3, 1265." "Neither can the [Catholic] Church escape responsibility for sending heretics to be burnt to death at the stake. The mere subterfuge of having the victim turned over to the secular arm cannot hide the fact that the popes repeatedly insisted under pain of excommunication and interdict upon rulers enforcing the death penalty against heretics. "Inquisition - Predominantly Ecclesiastical .... Despite these well established facts, Count De Maistre tries to whitewash the Church and the popes even of complicity in the execution of heretics, saying:'All that is terrible and cruel about this tribunal, especially, the death penalty, was due to the State.'" Through the testimony of history and of books of the Catholic Church, the papacy cannot escape responsibility for bringing about the apostasy in the first-centry Church of Christ. The state and the papacy worked together to get the people to follow what they wanted. Death was the punishment for those who refused to follow their doctrines. All the identifying marks of apsotasy are found in the Catholic Church. Therefore, we should have mercy on Catholics who believe so much that the Catholic Church is the true religion that belongs to Christ, although it has turned away from the true faith already. Roman Catholics "What One Infallible Pope, Under The Spell Of A Very Vengeful And Very Fallible Woman, Did To Another Infallible But Dead Pope" "THE BIG EYE-OPENER for her had been in March 897. Agiltruda, the queen mother of Spoleto, took her by the hand to the Lateran Palace. They stood outside in the bright sunshine with a crowd of Romans. Inside, the reigning pope, Stephen VI (nicknamed 'the Trembler' by his contemporaries because of his nervous disease), surrounded by his cardinals and bishops, conducted a trial. Agiltruda, a Lombard, with her luxuriant blond hair, blue eyes, impressive stature, and imperious voice, wanted everyone, inclding the child Marozia, to witness the degradation of her most foul enemy, a dead pope, A Corsican, Formosus by name. Pope Formosus had deprived Agiltruda's son of his due honor by crowning instead a hated German, Arnulf, as Holy Roman emperor in February 896. "Agiltruda had led an army, seized Rome, and installed herself in Hadrian's Mausoleum. But Emperor Arnulf had sent packing home to Spoleto, breathing vengeance and hate. Pope Formosus had then set out at the head of his own army to capture Agiltruda's beloved Spoleto. But he died of a stroke (or perhaps Agiltruda's poison) on April 4, 896, and was buried in Rome as befitted a pope. The next pope, Boniface VI, was put on the throne by armed Roman citizens. Within fifteen days Agiltruda made sure Boniface was stone dead (after all, before becoming pope, he had been twice defrocked for unseemly behavior). She then put her own creature on the throne as Pope Stephen VII. Everyone, including Agiltruda, knew that Stephen was insane and subject to violent paroxysms of black rage. He was therefore perfect for Agiltruda's scheme. "The venom and malice of that scheme was monumental. Formosus had been dead and buried for over eleven months. On Agiltruda's suggestion, Pope Stephen had the rotting corpse dug up, brought to the Lateran Palace, clothed in pontifical vestments, placed sitting on a papal throne, and then tried for capital crimes by Stephen and his cardinal and bishops. This was the famous Corpse Synod. Agiltruda had looked forward to it for a long time. This was why she came to the Lateran Palace with Marozia. This was why she was smiling and gay. "Inside the synod, all went according to plan. Pope Stephen himself and a papal accuser cross-examined the rotting corpse (a trembling eighteen year-old deacon stood beside the corpse and answered for the voiceless Formosus). The conviction came when Pope Stephen, livid with fury, shouted:'Why did you usurp the See of the Apostles?' And the young deacon answered for the dead Formosus:'Because I was evil.' At that crucial confession, Cardinals Sergius, Benedict, Paschalis, Leo John, and the others rushed on the corpse, ripped the pontifical vestments from it, tore off the first three fingers of the right hand (Formosus, like every pope, gave the papal blessing with those three fingers), and then dragged the corpse from the hall. "Marozia was there as the cardinals and clergy dragged the corpse out of the palace and along the streets. The shouts of the crowd, the smell of the putrefying flesh, the stones and the mud she and the others threw at the corpse did not let up at all. And then there was the dull splash as they threw the remains of Formosus into the River Tiber. Pope Stephen then sent the three torn fingers to Agiltruda, by the hand of Cardinal Sergius. This was Agiltruda's request. As the cardinal gave her these grisly trophies, he noticed the child by her side. Their eyes met. It was the first meeting between the two, but far from the last. She was then six, he thirty-six." Reference: Malachi Martin, The Decline and Fall of the Roman Church, pp. 101-102) Real Elias Ibarra Guam |

Women can make and unmake Catholic popes: "Theodora, the wife of Theophylact, a chief official of the papal court, and her daughter Marozia made and unmade popes practically at will throughout much of the tenth century, a period aptly known as the 'nadir of the papacy'. In 906, Marozia, at the age of fifteen, became the mistress of Pope Sergius III. They had one child, John, who subsequently became Pope John XI. In 914, Theodora's lover, Bishop John of Ravenna, became Pope John X. Marozia, after having enjoyed a succession of lovers, married Guido, Duke of Tuscany. The newlyweds conspired to unseat the Pope, who was her mother's lover. Joining with John's enemies, Marozia and Guido cast Pope John X in prison, and in 928, had him suffocated. The vast majority of these were elected at the beck and call of Roman emperor, Gothic king, Frankish king, Roman family or faction, German tribesman, German emperor, or local Italian petty tyrant. The Roman assembly of Christians continued to hold elections, but in each case their chosen candidate had to be ratified or confirmed by some temporal prince or ruler." "Each of the succeeeding popes from Leo III to Boniface VI (896) were elected in a tortuous fashion. The Roman factions battled among themselves and with the ordinary people. A candidate emerged from these always rough, frequently bloody, often fatal encounters between the various contending parties who used money as well as arms and sexual subversion to enforce their wishes. This candidate was then confirmed and ratified by Charlemagne's successors. Before he was crowned, the candidate swore loyalty to the Frankish ruler. Lol, Please stop attacking Adrian Hastings Catholic Church, otherwise, "otherwise will happen and I will be laughing most of the time" because this is how another author, Peter De Rosa, described a Roman Catholic pope, Innocent III: "In pursuit of his aims, he shed more blood than any other pontiff. He profoundly misunderstood the Gospel, the Church, the papacy, even the distinction between good and evil. His marvelous perversion of all these is evidenced in a single breathtaking statement:'"Every cleric must obey the Pope, even if he commands what is evil; for no one may judge the Pope'." Reference: De Rosa, Peter. Vicars of Christ: The Dark Side of the Papacy, Page 73. New York: Crown Publishers, Inc., 1988. Do you see how I exposed the hypocrisy of Roman Catholic pretensions?? The book says,'"Every cleric must obey the Pope, even if he commands what is evil; for no one may judge the Pope'." Look at how blasphemous the papacy is!!! They cannot be judged by God and Christ although they committed the most heinous of crimes!!! Despite these well established facts, Count De Maistre tries to whitewash the Church and the popes even of complicity in the execution of heretics, saying:'All that is terrible and cruel about this tribunal, especially, the death penalty, was due to the State.'" Through the testimony of history and of books of the Catholic Church, the papacy cannot escape responsibility for bringing about killings of those who did not follow them!!! Death was the punishment for those who refused to follow their doctrines!!! Real Elias Ibarra Guam |

Judged: 1 1 Lol, Spreading the truth is not attacking!!! The references that I had posted are statements from Catholics themselves!!! For sure these will hurt egos and images but these are good for souls who aspire for salvation!!! Christ and the Apostles did the same by telling the truth!!! If we should remain contented by merely keeping silent, then, why are we commanded to spread the Gospel all over the world??? Why does the Bible make it as one of the mandatory commands??? Improve your low I.Q.!!! Real Elias Ibarra Guam |

Ozzy, You don't see it because: "The Trinity is a wonderful mystery. No one understands it. The most learned theologian, the holiest Pope, the greatest saint, all are mystified by it as a child of seven." Reference:[Martin J. Scott, S.J., God and Myself, Nhil Obstat: Arthurus J. Scanlan, S.T.D., Imprimatur: Joannes Cardinalis Farley (P.J. Kenedy and Sons, 1917), pp. 118-119.] There is no reason for you to see it because even your authorities do not understand what they are preaching!!! Low I.Q. begets low I.Q.!!! To use our Guam based punching bag's own words, spreading the truth is not attacking!
http://phillipgarcia.wordpress.com/2009/01/30... That site speaks to the many crimes committed by INC members and their leaders. Let's spread the truth some more: http://filipinocults.blogspot.com/2010/06/igl... Wait, I feel a fit of truth telling coming over me: http://philippinecurrentaffairs.blogspot.com/... Now, I know that I am not attacking anyone or thing when I merely reveal the truth about the INC, right? Okay, okay...one more: http://iglesiaexposed.i8.com/lesson20.html Enjoy learning the truth about the Iglesia ni Cristo and their cult of evil. Corinthians 2 Chapter 11 "For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ. And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light. Therefore [it is] no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness; whose end shall be according to their works." Judging by Rizalino's words here, one can only ascertain that he will be damned to an eternity even more pitiful than his life. Enjoy being worm food, stooge. |
