Krauthammer's laid out the standard hard line position: the millions of Palestinians are all the same, they claim they want peace but they'll knife us in the back, Israel tried to make peace but the bad Palestinians kept being terrorists. Not entirely false, but hardly the whole story.

Of course, the facts really don't matter. By Sunday there will be a couple of hundred posts. 90% will be "kill arab scum" and/or recite a litany of Palestinian transgressions, and 10% will be "Israelis are the real terrorists". The majority of people in the middle who actually have to live with the current situation will continue to suffer.

Krauthammer applies a simplistic notion to the unrest in the ME, that it is all the Palestinians fault. Unfortunately it is not although they have played a losing game of politics as well. Israel is notorious for its behavior of changing the location of the goal posts whenever the possibility of peace is looming.

Obama sees that and as he establishes himself and the US once more in charge within the world community, there is hope he will make the necessary adjustments to the leverage that Israel exercises with the likes of AIPAC in subverting that process.

The never have, and it was Israel that committed the first acts of aggression in the region.

Israel has been a perfect model to explain exactly why the jews have been thrown out of every single Country they have ever setled in.

"millions of hostiles Arabs"

How many acres of land have they taken? How much water have they diverted? How many homes have they demolished?

How about an article of the dismissal of charges of the AIPAC spies? Or Jane Harmon's wiretapped call offering to reduce charges?

With "Special allies" like these, we don't need any enemies.

How about the IDF t-shirts after the Gaza massacre with pregnanyt Arab woman in cross hairs reading, "One bulett, 2 kills?

Oh boohoohoo I criticized Israel, I am an Antisemetic lunatic!

Moshe Dayan once said ," Our American friends offer us money, arms and advice. We take the money, we take the arms, and we decline the advice". That quote rings true, even in 2009.

Great investment. Results; racist theologian apartheid. The average American idiot thinks it's a dmocracy.

The Arab population on the West Bank & Gaza quadrupled between 1947 and 1993. The economy and infrastructure grew.

Then along came Clinton who brought Arafat back from exile in Algeria and we had Oslo. Arafat took care of everything after that destroying the economy in the territories and increasing the level of terror attacks.

Wow, so what do you call the Arab countries and the propsed 2nd State.

Contrary to your statement Israel has a thriving Arab population both economically and opolitically. It is the only State in the region that does.

The "Palestinians" always proppose a single biracial State when it comes to the existance of Israel, but when it comes to a Palestinian State it has to be free of Jews.

All Jews/Israelis have been out of Gaza since August 2005, the result is Hamas prefers war to peace. Sneak weapons through the border, the border stays closed. Launch missiles daily across the border countrer attacks will occur, kidnap Israelis and attacks will occur. After 4 yrs and all sorts of money poured into the Gaza Strip it should be a Tourist mecca. Never happen while Hamas is in control

actually, gaza has been blockaded by the israelis since the pullout in '05. the un has cited israel for this unacceptable act. is it any wonder the palestinians feel anger towards those who are starving them. look at the warsaw ghetto,. that should give you pause

This is ridiculously misleading. There are 100K Druze who enjoy relative freedom, but they act as Israeli citizens including the draft. Even then they face extreme bias from their Jewish neighbors. The Palestinians in the territories don't want to be Israelis any more than I'd want to be Mexican.
All Jews/Israelis have been out of Gaza since August 2005, the result is Hamas prefers war to peace.
Once again, ridiculously misleading. "Out" means troops aren't on the streets every day, most of the time they're controlling if/when anyone can get in our out. They still come in on regular raids. The Israeli position is that if all Palestinians would just knuckle under Israel wouldn't have to do that, but of course that's obvious. I don't think you'd get any people in the world to sign on for that.

No missile attacks = no raids
No kidnappings = no raids

Build a seaside vacation area and Israelis will visit as tourists on vacation. Build a terror base they'll visit as military

Real simple logic here.

.
you have Israeli Arab Citizens, non-druze, serving in the Keneset. You have Israeli Arab citizens who do not serve in the military by choice.

The other side would say
no raids and blockades = no missile attacks
no holding Palestinians w/o charge = no kidnappings to get them back

The point is not which side is right, but that naive statements like that will never get to a solution. Both sides have deep scars and hatreds combined with the believe that only their cause is just. Getting to a solution is going to take real evenhanded effort from the outside as well as cooperation from both sides.
