Madurai, November 12:
A 33-year-old man in Sivaganga district of Tamil Nadu has married a dog in a bid to ward off the "curse" of a canine couple he had killed 15 years ago.

Selva Kumar tied a 'mangal sutra' on the animal, named Selvi, at a Ganesh temple in Manamadurai, about 50 km from Madurai on Sunday.

The 10-year-old saree-clad "bride" was brought to the temple in a grand bridal procession. After the function, the bride was feasted with bread.

Kumar, who vowed to protect Selvi all through its life, said he married the animal as per the advice of an astrologer.

"I will take care of it till its death."

According to him, he had clubbed to death a dog-couple when they were mating and hung them on a tree when he was 18-years old.

After that incident, he suffered a stroke, he could not move his left arm and legs and turned deaf, Kumar said.

"I am able to walk only with the help of a stick, he said.

Kumar claimed that the astrologer had told him that he had the "curse of dogs" after having a simple glance on him.

The astrologer advised him that all his problems would be solved once he did the penance by marrying a bitch, Kumar said.

Rockhampton priest molested children in confessional

A priest from the Diocese of Rockhampton molested a brother and sister in the confessional and behaved indecently with altar boys moments before conducting Mass, a court was told yesterday.

Michael Joseph McArdle, 68, pleaded guilty in the District Court in Brisbane to a total of 62 charges, involving 56 counts of indecent dealing against boys aged under 14 and six counts against girls aged under 14.

McArdle molested 14 boys and two girls aged between eight and 13 in parishes throughout Queensland between 1965 and 1987.

The centres involved were Rockhampton and Biloela, Longreach and Jundah in central Queensland, Farleigh outside Mackay in north Queensland and Fraser Island, Monto, Gin Gin and Bundaberg in south-east Queensland.

Prosecutor Michael Byrne said McArdle molested altar boys and girls in the presbytery, vestry, the confessional and on church and school camps.

Mr Byrne said he had one boy masturbate him just 10 minutes before celebrating Mass.

"It was through the authority of his office that he had access to the complainants and because of his perception in the community of being a person of high moral standing that it took many years for his offending to come to light," Mr Byrne said.

He said McArdle's victims came forward after publicity from interviews the priest gave to a journalist, in which he admitted some of the abuse and claimed the children had wanted it "to some extent".

"They didn't resist; to some extent they wanted it," Mr McArdle allegedly said. "I'm not saying it was their fault,(just that) they didn't object."

McArdle was ordained in 1962 and retired in 1988 but was still performing private prayer services in Bundaberg until 2000.

He said he had been confronted about molestation incidents three times during his priesthood.

The sentencing hearing before Senior Judge Warren Howell is continuing.

DISABLED ELDERLY MAN LATEST VICTIM OF BRITAIN'S "STREET JIHAD"

A 73 year old disabled pensioner was brutally attacked, outside his own home, and beaten by a young muslim man. The plucky Ray Mills had gone outside to see why a group of 10 teens were throwing stones at his home (clearly provoking him to do so) and to tell them to stop. Undoubtedly he is from a former British mindset where such requests might be met with a few retorts from the youths but not a life threatening beating.

Mr Mills, who normally uses crutches, was coldcocked from behind by one of the teens thus leaving him vulnerable to the heinous actions of a cowardly muslim youth who proceeded to beat the elderly man with a brick. Mr. Mills was beaten unconscious and was hospitalized for two days where he received brain scans. He suffered numerous contusions and abrasions and may also have damage to his vision from the merciless beating. All the youths fled when neighbours came to the elderly man's assistance.

One cannot help but compare this incident to that of a 67 yr old man in Bradford who died (note the BBC's typical "extensive coverage of the death) from injuries received also at the hand of muslim "youths". Police believe "the pensioner became involved in a confrontation with a group of Asian youths and was then assaulted".(Undoubtedly there are more such incidences of elderly being assaulted and harmed by muslim gangs or individuals but more often then not the media appear to purposely obscure the assailants identity - see above BBC for typical example.)
