Pakistan Army is the defender of Pakistan Frontier whether the threat is external (India) or Internal(Taliban and Al Qaeda..although both of these have foreign links...Al Qaeda is entirely foreign)

The army is legitimatly showing concern but it does not mean they would not fight in the North west against Al Qaeda and Taleban...Its a legitimate concern as India might likely exploit the situation as it did in 1984 in Siachin...or Sir Creek earlier.

Therefore the Army is rightly looking for guarantees from India that it would reciprocate and withdraw troops in proportionate numbers from its borders.

India remains a long term threat as it occupies mUslim majority area of Kashmir(Remember the idea behind partition of British held India was that Muslim majority areas go to Pakistan and Hindu and Sikh Majority areas go to India (Bharat officially)).....However the immediate threat are definitely the Al Qaeda and Taleban.....they need to addressed first.

While zardari might be hastily interested in taking drastic and destabilizing actions...the Army is more mature and calculated and its definitely the most patrotic institution in Pakistan. Therefore it would be wise to leave the time frame of such movement to the Army and not put too much pressure or hurry them into redeployment. However once the Army is satisfied it can make such a move without disturbing out strategic and tactical balance on Indian border the army would itself make the move.

We need to do careful planning to execute such policies and Zardari should take the Army into confidence before making any strategic move.

As for the propaganda against Pak army....it might surprise many of you foreigners to read that it is a far more modern and progressive institution than any other in Pakistan....The only difference is that while NGOs and other so called Civil Society Champs haste and run into things without calculating their after affects and consequences and b/c these people always end up supporting corrupt and inept politicians..........the Pak army still remains the only entity in Pakistan that makes balanced moves that have long term affects and therefore is more effective in solving country's problems than our money and poweer hungry politicians and their naive Civil society following.

Do not forget the Pakistan's great favor to the West is the gradual destruction of the evil Empire the Soviet Union......and that was in late 80's...even as before as 1964 Pakisatan took the brunt of Soviet Nuclear threats when they warned that they would remove Peshawar a Pakistan North West City from the Map b/c American U2s were flying out of near Air Force base to photograpgh Soviet military sites.

Now Americans are doting over the Indians who did not contribute a dime towards the end of the Evil Soviet Empire rather they supported it....USA knowing that is so thankless when it blames Pak army for a variety of things it did not do while signing Nuclear deals with India a country that supported the Soviets in almost every wrong thing they did..........while it even shies away from providing modern figting machines to the Pak Army..........an army on which again USA is resting hopes that they would defeat the Al qaeda and Taleban..........Would the Indians dare fight the Al Qaeda and Taleban directly in the rugged terrain of Afghanistan..........or would they ever spill a single drop of blood for the West as Pakistan did and still is doing.

The creator of this universe sees all that is happening and in the long run the victory and vindication would be of the one who is patient and forthright.
