Bush Republicans Dangerous To USA Democracy
Former Top Judge Says US Risks Edging Near to Dictatorship
· Sandra Day O'Connor warns of rightwing attacks
· Lawyers 'must speak up' to protect judiciary
http://tinyurl.com/24l3fb
Sandra Day O'Connor, a Republican-appointed judge who retired last month after 24 years on the supreme court, has said the US is in danger of edging towards dictatorship if the party's rightwingers continue to attack the judiciary.

In a strongly worded speech at Georgetown University, reported by National Public Radio and the Chicago Daily Law Bulletin, Ms O'Connor took aim at Republican leaders whose repeated denunciations of the courts for alleged liberal bias could, she said, be contributing to a climate of violence against judges.

Ms O'Connor, nominated by Ronald Reagan as the first woman supreme court justice, declared: "We must be ever-vigilant against those who would strong-arm the judiciary."
She pointed to autocracies in the developing world and former Communist countries as lessons on where interference with the judiciary might lead. "It takes a lot of degeneration before a country falls into dictatorship, but we should avoid these ends by avoiding these beginnings."
Such threats, Ms O'Connor said, "pose a direct threat to our constitutional freedom", and she told the lawyers in her audience: "I want you to tune your ears to these attacks ... You have an obligation to speak up.
She noted death threats against judges were on the rise and added that the situation was not helped by a senior senator's suggestion that there might be a connection between the violence against judges and the decisions they make.

CNN BREAKING NEWS America Under Attack:

America Under Attack: FBI and State Police Cordon Off Debris Area Six to Eight Miles from Crater Where Plane Went Down
Aired September 13, 2001 - 11:43 ET
http://tinyurl.com/c26c3

DARYN KAGAN, CNN ANCHOR: Yes, we want to take our viewers live to Shanksville, Pennsylvania. Our Brian Cabell is standing by. This of course is the site where United Airlines flight 93 crashed on its way from Newark to San Francisco, crashed on Tuesday, and I understand, in this investigation, there's some breaking news.

Brian, what can you tell us?

BRIAN CABELL, CNN CORRESPONDENT: Well, Daryn, in the last hour or so, the FBI and the state police here have confirmed that have they cordoned off a second area about six to eight miles away from the crater here where plane went down. This is apparently another debris site, which raises a number of questions. Why would debris from the plane -- and they identified it specifically as being from this plane -- why would debris be located 6 miles away. Could it have blown that far away. It seems highly unlikely. Almost all the debris found at this site is within 100 yards, 200 yards, so it raises some question. We don't want to overspeculate of course. But there were some cell phone callers, one cell phone caller in particular, who said saw a bomb, or something that looked like a bomb with one of the hijackers. Also, the man who took over the plane apparently announced at one point, he had -- there was a bomb on board the plane.

Again, we don't want to speculate, we don't want to jump to conclusions. But what we do know is that there's a site about half mile behind me, where the plane went down, where most of the debris is, and then about six miles away up by a lake, there is another area that's been cordoned off, and state police and the FBI have said definitely there is debris from the plane located there. We have a crew on the way right now. We should have pictures of that a little bit later on.

Why has 'Downing Street memo' story been a 'dud' in US?
A mid-2002 British memo saying US was planning to 'fix' intelligence to fit plans to invade Iraq has not been big news.

There may have been a point at which the US news media would have been all over a story about a British official's report that the Bush administration appeared intent on invading Iraq long before it sought Congress' approval – and that it "fixed" intelligence to fit its intention.
http://tinyurl.com/f5fjo

But May 2005 is apparently way past that point.
Days before British Prime Minister Tony Blair secured a third term in the country's parliamentary election earlier this month, The Sunday Times published a " secret Downing Street memo."

The document was written by British national security aide Matthew Rycroft based on notes he took during a July 2002 meeting of Mr. Blair and his advisers, including Richard Dearlove, the head of Britain's MI-6 intelligence service who had recently met with Bush administration officials.

Among other things, the memo said:
Bush wanted to remove Saddam, through military action, justified by the conjunction of terrorism and WMD. But the intelligence and facts were being fixed around the policy. The [National Security Council] had no patience with the UN route .... There was little discussion in Washington of the aftermath after military action.

It seemed clear that Bush had made up his mind to take military action, even if the timing was not yet decided. But the case was thin. Saddam was not threatening his neighbors, and his WMD capability was less than that of Libya, North Korea or Iran.
The memo's authenticity was not disputed by Blair's office.

Plot to assassinate Bush - reports
July 9, 2001
http://tinyurl.com/2mp757
MOSCOW, Russia -- Osama bin Laden has threatened to assassinate U.S. President George W. Bush at a G8 meeting in Italy, the head of Russia's Federal Bodyguard Service has said, according to reports.

The Associated Press said Yevgeny Murov was quoted by Itar-Tass news agency as saying: "Bin Laden is threatening the American president, but we know what international terrorism is today and therefore all the bodyguard units concerned are preparing for this.

"We view the threats as totally serious, but hope that with joint efforts we can solve all the problems."
The Group of Eight summit is meeting between July 20-22 in Genoa, Italy. Leaders from Britain, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Russia and the United States are expected to attend the summit.

General Anthony Zinni, USMC,(Ret.) Remarks at CDI Board of Directors Dinner, May 12, 2004
http://tinyurl.com/8ldmo

I think the first mistake that was made was misjudging the success of containment. I heard the president say, not too long ago, I believe it was with the interview with Tim Russert that ... I'm not sure ... but at some point I heard him say that "containment did not work." That's not true.

So to say containment didn't work, I think is not only wrong from the experiences we had then, but the proof is in the pudding, in what kind of military our troops faced when we went in there.

The third mistake, I think was one we repeated from Vietnam, we had to create a false rationale for going in to get public support. The books were cooked, in my mind. The intelligence was not there. I testified before the Senate Foreign Relations Committee one month before the war, and Senator Lugar asked me: "General Zinni, do you feel the threat from Saddam Hussein is imminent?" I said: "No, not at all. It was not an imminent threat. Not even close. Not grave, gathering, imminent, serious, severe, mildly upsetting, none of those."

IMBECILE BUSH LOST TWO WARS WITH THE BEST MILITARY ON EARTH!
General Sanchez: US will not win in Iraq
Monday, June 04, 2007
Iraq war 'lost'
http://tinyurl.com/2jweal

The latest fighting erupted after a former commander of American forces in Iraq, retired army Lieutenant General Ricardo Sanchez, said the United States could no longer win the war and must find a way to stave off defeat.

"I am absolutely convinced that America has a crisis in leadership at this time," General Sanchez said.

"I think if we do the right things politically and economically with the right Iraqi leadership we could still salvage at least a stalemate, if you will — not a stalemate but at least stave off defeat," he said.

General Sanchez retired last year and is the highest-ranking former military leader yet to suggest the Bush administration fell short in Iraq. He commanded troops there between June 2003 and June 2004.

The US military just recently spent 300 million on secret operations occuring as we speak to secure the nuclear weapons systems in Pakistan. Feel safer now? I do not considering the following: Airport security is broken, the borders are broken... and just the other day, the inspector general of the dept of state DENIES during senate hearings that he was aware that is own brother is on the board of directors of the defense contractor Blackwater, which is running amok in Iraq killing civilians and ripping off the pentagon for billions of dollars, and he is the main guy in charge of inspecting that agency??? This country has become a joke, but its now joke actually. The Federal Reserve and central banks carefully orchestrated the collapse of the dollar to destroy the foreign cash reserves of the Chinese war machine which is funding the insurgency through Iran into Iraq. Iran also is bringing online 3000 uranium centrifuges to give them a bomb within one year time. Iran is Chinas good buddy selling them allot of desperately need oil China needs for their economy. China is 50% Muslim, has slave labor, forced abortions etc etc and the Chinese war machine, which takes all those made in china dollars from Wal-Mart, not to mention the money that bush borrowed from china to fund the war in Iraq, for the Chinese to achieve the largest military buildup in history, so china also just demonstrated recently in the seas of Japan how their submarine, in the middle of a major US Navy military exercises with all the aircraft carrier and their defensive ring of destroyers etc, how right in the middle and right next to the aircraft carrier within firing range, the Chinese sub popped right up in the middle. This for the Navy and US military is worse than Sputnik. The writing is on the wall and with a lunatic bumbling nincompoop like Bush in charge the situation warrants serious concern. Bush recently enacted legislation which gives him the authority to revoke the constitution, instill martial law, he revoked the right to a trial by judge for anyone so judged a threat to security. Don’t be surprised if WW111 breaks out and there wont even be an election to get him out. He wants to attack Iran, which retaliates with massive terrorist attacks in this country since the security is obviously broken, this leads to further invasions against Iran with China stepping in, he wants to fight China and get the commies out of there too and instill democracy in China, he already has the Federal Reserve engaging in economic warfare with China by lowering the dollar which is raising oil to historic levels. With our economy on the brink of collapse with the housing markets and millions of foreclosures occurring the powers that be may have decided a major war is need to keep them safe and richer. Today I discovered that within a fifty mile radius of my house there are 13,400 houses in foreclosure and the resets have not even kicked in, its just the tip of the ice berg. After 9-11 the feds opened the floodgates of credit which pumped up the market to artificially inflated levels and the situation is far from over. Banks have already failed in California, but things are going to get allot worse before they get any better. The more research you do on this the worse it looks, if you have any questions or doubts just ask me and I can find out anything having a good old friend from grade school working in the intelligence community and I must confess its scary the crap that’s going on out there, I for one am obviously shaken by the turn in events which appears to be occurring as we speak.

What specifically do you want to know my friend?

How the Republicans were 100% against fighting al Qaeda in Somalia, Afghanistan, and Yemen during Clinton years???

There are many documents to support my claims.

But the masses will never know about it because the heads of both parties will be implicated.

Was Ending CIA Osama Unit A Mistake?
First Head Of Unit Tells CBS News Closing Was 'Questionable'

Michael Scheuer CIA Retired

July 5, 2006 http://tinyurl.com/f4bdu

(CBS/AP) The first head of the Central Intelligence Agency's Osama bin Laden-hunting unit tells CBS News that closing the unit was "a mistake" and "a questionable decision."

"Bin laden remains the single most important threat to the United States, and there's no way around that fact," Michael Scheuer a CBS News terrorism analyst said on The Early Show.
It was reported by the New York Times Tuesday that the CIA has closed the unit that for a decade had the mission of hunting Osama bin Laden and his top lieutenants.
Scheuer said bin Laden is unquestionably a threat to the United States.
