If I'm out of the country, I'll never be able to come back to Oman For two years, American-born Khadijah Heather Jones has fought a custody battle in Oman. Now, with the custody hearing in the Middle Eastern country less than a week away, she faces deportation before she can make her case. And she knows if that happens, she may never see her children again. 'It's just going to crush my heart and soul if the police take my kids away,' Jones said in a phone interview. wow , i was soooo shocked when reading this. i live nearby where they live , her kid and i used to go to the same school , but he transfered after that. Mrs.jones used to teach me english when i was 10 years old. And wat her husband is doing is against islam and should be punished , i hope she gets her kids back.

Against Islam? You must be a fraud as this happens all the time. Middle Eastern man marries American woman, woman converts to Islam, has children, man takes children back to Middle East. American Woman asks for help from State Department, has to hire Soldiers of Fortune to kidnapp her children from husband and bring them back to America.

I have a hard time believing these are Americans that are speaking above. It shows you how far we have fallen as a country. We have become ethnocentric, xenopobic, jingoist. If this is an example of our Christain souls I can understand why she became Muslim. Please educate yourselves with facts before you put things in writing. Pat Smith, we are in a war. Your niece is fighting a custody battle with a man who is not on our side in this war. Wars are not won by following rules. You are engaged in a personal war on your niece's behalf. I applaud your courage. But, counsel your niece wisely. Those she is dealing with are not people with integrity. That is what the posters (both pro and con) on this board are telling you. You cannot trust anyone in a war, except yourself.

All these people so quick to judge, and so keen to see in these events, what their personal prejudice most favor! Having lived in Oman on & off since 1973, I know that Islam has very little to do with these sad events but much to do with the nature of Arab men, their attitude to their wives and families and this particular man's power to influence this situation in his favor. It was naive of Heather to marry an Arab and convert forgetting the cultural differences- I've met so many women to whom this has happened- but it was also optimistic and loving. We all believe we will be happy. What is really wrong and sad here, something of which Oman should be ashamed, is that her husband is so clearly able to manipulate events against her. The courts should ensure that she and her children have a fair hearing and that the interests of the children are always put first. Anyway, doesn't Islamic law state that a child stays with their mother until they are 7? NO, the whole thing stinks and I am very, very sad for all concerned. I hope I hear news that things turned out well. And Oman, hang your head in shame!

Yaa, if she was any smarter, she should have stayed with him. But she probably listened to ignorant, who has no useful addition to this subject, or any subject for that matter.

There are some who make such statements, and they don’t know the first thing about being a Muslim. They take one case, and think all are same,(and I am not confirming rightfulness or wrongfulness of this case). It would be like Muslims seeing Clinton harassing Monika, and therefore all presidents, Americans, westerners are harassing all women, therefore they are wild animals, that are disgracefully looking like humans- like us.

Oh my God, you had it figured out, All middle Eastern men are dieing to get their hands on American women, so that we could divorce them and chase them over the children.

Just think for a second, the court has ordered for the children to go to the mother, but she had another one that says she has to leave the country. America deports people all the time.... BUT if America does it, must be for a good reason, and if another country does the same, they must be terribly wrong and no reason for it....

I'm sorry that Heather is in this situation. I actually knew her in grade/high school. However, the fact remains that when Americans travel or move to another country, they must obey the laws and rulings of that country. This is certainly not the first nor the last time this type of situation will come to light. I don't wish her any ill will, but if he moved here he wouldn't be above our laws simply because he is from the Middle East.

Her deportation is not bcause of her divorce if she indeed is legal divorced. Her deportation is based on her termination of her work contract with a telecommunications co. in Oman. Despite the husband's influence, the American Muslim won the Supreme Court Case that full custody is in her favor of all three children. Her children actually appeared in closed court at least 2 times and all of them requested to be with their mother. Even when a question was posed (as written in court documents) if your father bought you toys and provided things for you and took you to Dubai, would you then want to stay with your father....even after such encouragement in a question, the child said no. I want my mother. I see the hard fight for 3 years that Khadijah has faced in the court. It is hard to get your rights as a woman here, she did. It is hard to get your children and for them to not go to father but she did. It is hard to get man convicted of hitting but she did...not one man (her husband but also a brother). Is it hard to prove that she as a white American woman who happens to practice Islam get full support of Supreme Court as she is better character of Muslim person than husbnad--she did. God is wathcing over her and her children. She is strong in faith and she is strong woman in Oman. Look at the positives--its so easy to make comments that are bad. I do not understand how one can talk bad if a person chose a partner (husband) or a religion (your belief) and is seeking justice the legal way through OMani court system. She has never stated America take me back--she is American as her children are and every year spent 3 months at least in America. I ask that why not allow her kids to travel back to America as any other summer and see their family---they have been b. listed for 3 years now.
