In a strategic sense, the Pacific has emerged as the setting for what some analysts fear could become a dangerous faceoff between the Chinese and the Americans down the track. China is already flexing its muscles and trying to impose its will on some of its neighbours such as Japan with a string of territorial demands. And while some commentators – who can be loosely termed the “doves”– insist that Beijing is only interested in promoting its commercial interests and wants to work in partnership with countries like the US and Australia to guarantee regional stability, others – the “hawks”– aren’t so sure. Just this week came yet another example of Beijing’s less-than-friendly attitude when it was revealed that China had hacked into, and compromised, Australia’s new intelligence headquarters in Canberra. That story hasn’t been officially denied.

The “hawks” are especially concerned about the way in which Australia’s Labor Government has steadily degraded the country’s defence capability. One of them – The Australian’s respected Foreign Editor, Greg Sheridan – has described the defence wind-down as a “national disgrace”, He said that while Australia could still readily cope with an emergency in one of its island neighbours, it was now so denuded of appropriate weaponry that it was no longer able to contest a wider conflict.

The United States, of course, is certain to find this perplexing on two fronts – a close ally which it saved from a Japanese invasion in World War Two disconcertingly sanguine about its own defences and an emerging superpower in the form of China increasingly active in Australia’s backyard. As Chinese missile and satellite tracking ships become a regular fixture in Suva Harbour and the overall Chinese presence becomes ever more visible in Fiji, some Americans are asking a pointed question. What on earth happened to the “deputy sheriff” badge that was given to John Howard by George W. Bush to keep the South Pacific pacific and inside the Western orbit? Answer: The deputy sheriff’s successors turned their backs on the region’s most influential country, Fiji, in support of an unenforceable principle and allowed the Chinese to sail right on in. Goddammit, why the hell did you do that? Er, for the sake of democracy. But they’re in the process of returning to democracy. Er…

But, I would think that some of these people are either relatives or "te'e" who survived by doing those things from day to day. May be we ought to focus on reinforcers rather then the beneficieries. I don't know. Quite complicated to me.

Boru...77 it's sad but true. Some of our people cannot connect the royalty's steal millions with the poor. Pilolevu make millions a month from Tongasat. She stole anther $18,000,000 from the poor. How much money does this bitch want? She cannot spent the interest on the millions she got. How long our people are going to put up with this abused? I know of guys who are doing hard labor in prison for stealing a pig to eat. This bitch belong in prison.

Obviously you believe are greater fool theory of life, you of course being the greatest fool of all,
blame the game not the player, you're full of BS

Could you name another country in the world where the satellite positioning slots are owned by a private company?

Every other country the space above that country is part of the sovereign property of that country
and must be used for the betterment of the citizens of that country.

So you think Tonga is different? Yes it is different, it's run by criminal gangsters, who take everything they can, shoreline,, and every other moneymaking concern they can get their hands on
why then did the MPs take the Princess to court to get their $18 million back?

Maybe you should run for Parliament, and try to get a brown paper bag full of money like the rest of them.
You are a pathetic small-minded individual who has criminal tendencies, and properly want to have incestuous sex with your mother, especially if she was drunk, she was unaware that you are but fu@cking her.

why don't you come to Tonga and run for Parliament boru77? you have many ideas which would be better aired in Parliament (amend laws, change laws, etc.) instead of you hiding behind toilet papers through this forum. it is a lost battle fighting from the septic; get yourself here and we battle it out in tonga against corruption, nepotism and the likes.

Well it's a start, that you are an agreement with everybody Elks on this forum that there exists in our country corruption, nepotism and the like
so instead of criticising the people who are bringing these matters into the open.

It's said by a very eminent British jurist that "the best disinfectant for corruption is sunlight"

So that's what I and many other people on this forum are trying to do, bring the criminals out into the sunlight to be exposed

After this exposure, let the indignation of the general population take over

After all this has been repeated many times in the past with the French Revolution, Russian Revolution, even the American War of Independence, if the criminals will not depart the scene voluntarily, then the ordinary people will have to say

Raider4life....Pilolevu didn't invest in Tongasat her father Tupou IV gave her the communications business which was start with foreign aid. It include the telegram, telegraph radio station (ZCO ) later on when more aid comes in for TV, satellite she got them and called it Tongasat. Her brother was given the Tonga Power.(TupouV) start with foreign aid. I have no problem with rich people if they earn it. Tongasat is run by the govt. in the name of the Tongan govt. for Pilomotu'u, and the poor? She doesn't give a sh....she is one greedy bitch.
