3 This iceberg didn't get here because the tropical waters off the coast of Australia are getting cooler. The polar ice cap is melting! Get that through your thick skulls. We need to act now to prevent the destruction of civilization as we know it. |

2 Um, it's summer there. This happens every year. There have been shifts in warm water currents causing the ice shelf to break off in larger chunks. Just how large do you think an unsupported shelf of ice can get before storms and currents break off pieces of it? Just like glaciers, they have a limit, then they start to slide fast (called 'galloping glaciers, discovered by Norwegians quite a while ago). Compression turns the ice beneath into water so they slide faster (this is how ice skates work btw). When did science become a repub/dem item? The temperature ice melts in the glaciers in central Greenland's elevations is near 70 degrees- they haven't had a 70 degree day in 100 years. And even a 6 degree rise in temperature in Antarctica doesn't bring the temp anywhere near the melting point of ice. Think deeper. |

1 Have you been contacted by the record keepers at Guinness yet for setting the world record for consecutive times WRONG? Since you are the Web Secretary for the Flat Head Society (also known as the: Bartender give us another glass of loudmouth club) I thought I'd provide you with some titillating information for your upcoming meeting. http://www.theregister.co.uk/2008/07/03/godda... |

1 Of course it is Climate Change ... Nature just doing it's thing as long as it has and always will do so. No-one can stop the Earth from changing and nor could they in the past. But we certainly don't need Politicians rorting taxpayers from any country with their fraudulent claims that they can prevent it from happening. |

1 You may need to get buy an Atlas or an up to date globe of the world ... Tasmania and the regions below are not " tropical waters off the coast of Australia ". |

1 I don't get it. When its warmer than normal, it due to "man made climate change". When its cooler then normal, its still because of "man made climate change". You kooks want it both ways. You may be right, the polar ice cap may be melting. My driving a car or recycling T.P won't change that as it is a NATURAL OCCURANCE. Lay off of the Gore juice. |

My mother is not a planet, maybe yours is. The contribution of greenhouse gases due to cattle far exceeds automobiles. But the greenhouse gases coming from the cattle industry barely shows up compared to termites, or ants, both of which far exceed cattle. Meaning automobiles are at the bottom of the list. Natural sources are 100's of times more prevalent than any due to man. |
