If that is a fact, then it is a sad one indeed. Png is a land of plenty we must also have that many solutions nd I hope we in PNG do seriously look into solving this before it gets out of hand. On the part of Australian media, Iam sure there was an objective of doing that research. May we in PNG know. Iam sure the objective was to find a solution However, Now that you have the printed results of an indicator, in all fairness, WHAT ARE YOU GONA DO WITH ?

Well, the debate can go on without a never ending story of it. PNG currently are engaged in Porn Industries and being published every where in face book.

How can we stop it when the real activity is behind the scene? We are either to do this:
1.Legalize prostitution.
2.or take a tougher law on Porn that re emerging in PNG and we can never deny that.

Finally, some of the big named people are in it and it is hidden but we are looking for ways to pinpoint on those ones who are less important to the community. Better think about and the Govt of the day should consider it for the good or worse.

I just want to say this is rare but true, especially in Port Moresby the capital of PNG. We have hookers there, that are coming from the nearby villages around the Port Moresby city. Some of them are as young as 13 coming from poor and abusive famies which they loose hope in life. The only way to earn a living is through the prostitute/sex industry. Most of them dont know pidgin and are uneducated claiming to be students looking for school fees.
I am a high school teacher and I have also come across some of my students being picked up by married men who promise them shopping money and a luxury life. For these group of girls only a minority of them do it for school fees but most of them do it for the fun of it which money is also an item of payment for the pleasure they give.
Again this is rare to us but it is now happening and the government should step in to address this issue. For those of you who are looking for brotels in PNG, you wont find any, but if you do be careful cause it is illegal and you dont wanna spend a night in our Prison, trust me.

sex for money is another way of keeping the people busy and making money. but if the headline of sex for money in madang is reflecting the the integrity of the entire country coz madang is for every citizen of png hence it also one of the industrial nations in the country. to make it fair and safe for the municipal, the governmnet must legalise the practise with the authorized body to take care of the industry like cca, NARI,CIC.IMRPNG ETC.IT MUST BE STRONGLY regulated and monitor., however the type of goverment we have and the living standard and the diverse tradition and cultures we have could impose risk this practise. therefore, the goverment must addresss the issue of baseline poverty in our nation coz we have employment problem etc.

I'm conducting an investigative research into this matter as my final research write up, my thesis so ill soon find out more reason behind this issue...This issue is a result of modernisation and globalisation and the influences it have on our communities and society.
There are a lot reasons that lies behind girls engaging in such activities...our culture and lifestyles are changing!:( lets adapt to these changes!

this prostituion issue in PNG is due to lazyness of the people and couples not planing for how many offsprings would be produced. this two factors are forcing the young girls to go out to the street and selling their body for prostituion and generating money.

Prostitution or social sex is an universal practice and part of human nature. It is rare in PNG but very common in all Western Countries n worse in Europe. The difference between western n european countries compare to PNG is that they have lots of news to report while there is no news to report in PNG and they ended up with substandard reports on Prostitution which is easy to find. The best news that a professional news reporter gets and put them on the cutting edge is rare and hard to find which come through. Investigative reporting. PNG n Port Moresby city is very small places easy to spot bad news. Don't waste your time on such reports as prostitution unless you are one of them with good experience.

hi fellow PNGeans, whether u like or not it is happening in our country by a little percentage that is why we don't recognise that's why we feel its not happening..we should not make comments and do our personal responsibilities well. it is better to learn from others than from your own experience. Working guys whatever job you are specified in is a gift from our almighty God. if you say I God never give me my job then you are making a mistake by saying it so. i tell you not long you will loose your job. gifts are always given with expectations remember. who will follow me if a girl asks for sex for money, give her the money if you have and tell her go home. it is better to do 1 thing than nothing at all...

Grizzly,it' a very bad reputation and annoying headline for us(Pngeans)..Much of the fault eesulted from parents not educating their children well before entering schools.Parents have not planned well for the future of their children...its not a game, its not a deal to play around with when educating kids at your homes before enroling them into education system...
Am not happy b'cause these are the people who will lead the country

It may be insane to every sense for many Papua New Guineans to think that legalizing of prostitution is just a bullshit and that there are a number of alternative means to make a living and that we are just blind and lazy.

Yes it does make sense to simply say that, but if we start to critically think and probably make a physical instigation of the factors surrounding those who are involved, we may surely make a better judgement of the situation and come up with something for them and our society as a whole. We all need to support each other to make this world a better place to survive and enjoy.

It just got to me that there are a number of NGOs who are currently doing something good in terms of making investigations and research projects into prostitution and its impact on the rate of HIV&AIDS in the country today. TINGIM LAIF is one of such vital organizations who are supported by WHO and other International Organizations.

I suppose these are the organizations who should be asked to give their accounts on this issue of prostitution in the Country. Please find out more about the problem before making any drastic decisions which may surely be bias and unrealistic for the good of this blessed country of ours..INDUWAR[ponmangen@studen]
