lol....So the economic mess we are in today is not because of 7 years of Bushs failed economic policies it is because of Jimmy Carter ? You do realize most people are actually beginning to feel sorry for you Bush followers dont you ? You poor pathetic bastard. 2 dollar gas wrote: <quoted text>jimmy carter had his very own gas crisis. High prices, nationwide shortages with lines at the pumps four blocks long, high unemployment, high inflation, huge recession, ridicule from foreign leaders and open hostility against Americans worldwide. carter even gave away the Panama Canal that China runs today. The Chinese are presently widening the canal to accommodate super tankers to get oil from Venezuela to China and bypass the American market. carter granted China Most Favored Trading status in spite of the warnings against it. It's like signing adoption papers... that baby's ours now and it's not growing up the way carter hoped it would.

If it makes you feel better to blame Carter for all the evils in the world fine -- go for it. Living in the past, wishing and hoping that it would change, if it works for you great. I wish life was so easy -- "It all started when....." Fill in your own blank.
What do we do now? That is what I want to look at.

Waldo wrote: <quoted text> There is a saying -- "Divide and conquer." We are divided. I wonder who will be the conqueror. The liberals have been trying to divide Americans for decades. Divide by north and south, divide by race, divide by conservative and liberal, divide by religion, divide by class and wealth.

The Bloody Snowman wrote: Yes, Yes, Yes. It draws nearer day by day. As the gasoline prices in this country approach the level of those in Europe, the market is no longer to be trusted, and there is general discord; the timing is perfect for those grand manipulators to usher in the NEW WORLD ORDER! We have been for years paying about the same price for gas as those in Europe pay. The reason their gas prices are so much higher than our is because of their outrageous taxes on gas. In my opinion our total tax bill should not be over 10% of our income. If our city, county, state and Federal governments can't do the things they need to do on 10% of our income then they need to be throttled back. There is way too much pork and give aways in my opinion. Read our US Constitution to see what the Federal government has a legal right to do that requires spending our money. You will be surprised how limited that is!!!

2 dollar gas wrote: <quoted text>Sniffing glue again? The one billion Chinese peasants have no cars and no way to get them. If you GAVE them a car they would not have enough money to buy China's $2 gas. The 13 million Chinese who bought the cars are the new rich who have made their fortunes since capitalism became legal as a growth driver. The poor peasants will remain in poverty for the next century. It's cheap labor that provides China with cheap food and cheap construction labor and a 5 million man army. Does slavery ring a bell with you? Communist labor is little more than slavery with a tiny paycheck. Under the communistic system in China the entire country of 1.3 billion were virtually slaves. Since the advent of capatalism into the Chinese system 300 million have moved into prosperity. Pretty godd for 20 or so years.

Nope, our federal deficit is about 600 million as of Friday (thats correct million with an M not billion with a B.) Our economy Is resource based, Alberta and Saskatchewan have more oil than the Saudis and our other minerals put us in the top five economies world wide for sustainable diversity. There WAS a time when Canada was nothing but a branch plant for you guys but thats not so any more. Also, we don't have the sub prime crisis you guys do. Our banks were not allowed those kinds of loans till just before the bottom fell out stateside so the big six banks here didn't get burned too bad. When the bottom falls off your economy in a few weeks(and it doesn't much matter who wins in November)Canadian firms will be near the front of the line at the going out of business sales to snap up the bargains

By the way, if you multiplied the Canadian federal government of 600 million deficit x10 to equal your population base,it would be slightly more than 6b

Much of Canada's government including health-care is funded by revenue from oil exports. Higher oil prices help keep Canada afloat.

Wind, solar, bio fuels, clean oil from coal, natural gas cars, electric cars, more hydro-electric, and even more nuclear and drilling should be looked at. Tax incentives should be given to energy produced within the US,(oil from coal, etc.). Keep the money in the US!
