1 Why is it that Christians feel the need to offer a belief system on behalf of the Holy Spirit? For a few good reasons do some promote their religion but most proclaim their religion for the wrong reasons: strength in numbers, political clout through conformity, control of people whom they feel needing control, to market their value system so that it gains in value, to build power associations within social groups for nefarious purposes, for business purposes, to cloak how evil they are at the core by pretending to be pious in public congregation, to practice deceit on fellow humans I have been to the Full Gospel Businessman's Meetings and many bible studies. Every time religious fervor spurs people to market their belief system there is nothing spiritual to be found in the results. All it ever boils down to is human crap and effort poorly disguised as something Nobel. The only times that I have had true spiritual experiences, of an enlightening nature, was when I was in a self induced Holotropic state and seeking such an introduction. Why not leave it to your god to touch someone? Don't trust him to be able to do his job? If you promote, the chance always exists that the person receiving your interpretation may confuse you for the message.(I think that is really the reason why people often promote it openly: they are wishing to be judged OK/good by their association with god, nothing more.) |

1 Your confusing Christians with liberals. Christians help who they can, most couldnt care less about helping people who pretty much have themselves to blame for a lot of there problems. |

1 Are you kidding? On the whole, Christians are the other side of the coin when it comes to forcing people to "live the right way". They're essentially the "tails" to Liberalism's "heads". Don't think so? Let's see: Liberals - Don't read books with religion in them - Don't say words that are hurtful to others - Don't watch movies that contain any hint of sexism, racism, theism, capitalism or bigotry. Christian Conservatives - Don't read books with sex in them (any kind) - Don't say words against the Church - Don't watch movies that contain any hint of sex, alternative lifestyles or secular superiority They're different only in what they want you to not be able to do as a member of a free nation. But they're still most out to tell you what THEY don't want you to do. |

1 That is the most troubling aspect "because i thought." Although Christians whole world revolves around their beliefs, they also then claim that they can operate as well in the world of reason especially when deducing things for others what others should do with their money and minds. Substitute "controllers" for the word Christian and you will get a sense of how you appear to the rest of the world, imo. Do you see me telling Paul, or you, how you should spend your money, what has priority. Why can't Christians just say this is what I think and not exhort others that they should also think this way? When expressing your own thoughts on an issue why do direct it so personally and in such a controlling fashion? |

1 (sigh) dude what he does with his money is his choice im not controlling anyone belive what you want to belive live and let live. i was just simply suggesting and offering ideas (albeit harshly i admit) thats it. do your own thing i was just trying to help in the end its your choice. |

1 Better ways to use christians? Do tell. I've always thought using them as examples of how not to do things might work. |

Here in Britain most people's reaction to them is either "There are ads on the side of the bus? I can't say I'd noticed" or "Oh yeah, I'm not bothered either way"

1 Actually, atheists chose FREEDOM from the toxic baggage of gods, religions and churches, and the religious slavery these religions and churches imposed on everyone else. Sorry if you and other hard-line theists have such difficulty with that freedom, but that is hardly my problem. So far, I've yet to hear how our being free from religions and churches affects the theists' choice to follow a religion or attend a church, and I don't expect an answer anytime soon. |
