No Netbanger, the two cases are entirely different.

Fields was using his position to effect personal financial gain. Banks returned a false declaration in relation to campaign funding and contributions...he didn't pocket any cash directly from Dotcom's donation.

To be clear, I'm not a fan of Banks....but skin colour has nothing to do with it.

What i ment Gt was that John Banks got away with a jail term because he was white. Taito in the other was guilty trialled and sentenced to jail. Why isnt john banks in jail..? It isnt the same but similar...he still broke the law.

Well...kind of....!!

We would then have to ask why Winston Peters isn't in jail either. And what's his skin colour?

He's 50%, he is more Maori than anyone else in this country.

He also hates on them, because he knows their scum.

As guts said, two totally different cases.

How do you know field was guilty, the nz justice sytems has shown in the past to be joke. Did you count the hours the thai guy worked @ his house. And who fed him, surely taito wouldnt of starved him. What about his other expenses rent, power etc...did he expect to go to samoa and stay for free..;)

Hi GF, the only differences between these two cases are the lawyers really. If we put it in the context that a campaign is indeed for financial gain then the cases are no different from one another. IF john banks were to win his campaign then there would indeed be financial gain otherwise you wouldn't bother with a campaign should there be no financial gain in it right?

Conclusion: The cat ran away with the spoon because he got a better lawyer to handle his case, I don't think it has anything to do with race.

Hey Erana. I'd agree on that one point. Banks probably did have better lawyers than Field, but I reckon the abuse of power in the Field case is a far bigger issue.

The other consideration is that Dotcom had already made the donation, so there was no 'financial gain' to be had by lying on Banks' return. Neither was there any real abuse abuse of power.

That said, whichever way you look at it, we're right (sorry Netbanger)...race has nothing to do with it.
