There isn't enough jobs for teens to keep them occupied. New World'd automated some of its system. Where are teens going to find jobs.

Yes its going to become more and more of a problem as we automate, lower skilled jobs will have to go.

I created a site for teens to find jobs www.jobsteens.co.nz so I hope teen jobs arn't going too soon, or I won't make any money. Teens could always start a small business. Warren Buffet (one of the richest men in the world), sold coke cans when he was six around his neighbourhood. He bought a pack of six for 25 cents and sold them for 5 cents each making a 20% profit.

He then did a magazine and newspaper round. By the time he was fourteen Warren was earning as much as the average 25 year old. Teens need to learn about money from a young age to succeed financially. Jobs are part of this. Robert Kyosaki said work to learn- not to earn.

A great teen job idea is to get paid for writing essays or articles. This is good because it allows teens to practise their english and earn money. Most people want a reward for doing something and this could be a good way to get one. http://www.myessays.com is one website. I submitted and article and set the price at $15. So far it hasn't sold anything. Next time I'm going to submit it to a service that shares ad dollars with me. I have some other good business ideas at http://www.jobs4teens.co.nz/index.php/busines... . Another idea is for teens to set up a search engine. If they get a few hundred users and have google ads on their site they could earn a tidy sum.

Blame it on third world immigrant parasites. Mostly Indians who have taken all the jobs that teenagers used to do.

Ha, very true for manufactoring jobs but immigrants still have to get paid minimum wage.:)

Teens will just have to be more creative! Internet jobs are exploding- You've just got to watch out for scams.

P.S. I've added a community forum so teens can talk about this sort of stuff: http://www.jobs4teens.co.nz/index.php/communi...

Did you know a student job sie got $700,000 from the Govenment? That sounds great until you realise they took $4 million out of student summer jobs in the science industry. The $700,000 was to promote the site to employers. Interesting.

Great idea, may post it. You'd have to hand out flyers and advertise. Maybe even make a free website.

I just noticed my first link to my site was wrong is www.jobs4teens.co.nz anyway another reson why teens arn't getting jobs is because some parents don't allow them to. This isn't a good attitude from the parents, a part time job can be very educational.

Aussie has far better prospects than NZ but their retail jobs will go with automation all the same. There is more manufactoring in Australia though.

no need to worry about automation replacing labour in our manufacturing plants - we dont have hardly any left!

Not many teens these days are ready for manual labour.(or at least holding down a hard graft 40 hr a week job). As a tradesman I have seen a big shift from apprenticeships for teens to getting a labourer who is in their early to mid twenties.

At least most teens don't want manufactoring jobs. I did a poll and most people want office then retail jobs.
