Mexico scolds U.S. for approving border fence

The Mexican government criticized the U.S. Congress on Friday for approving the construction of a fence along the U.S.-Mexico border, while Mexican human rights groups said it would lead to more deaths.

I live in Mexico, legally, and drive across the border 2 to 3 times a week. I see thousands of Mexican citizens cross the border into the US, legally, every day, more than any other nationality. There is no discrimination.

Yes, the U.S. is a nation of immigrants, legal immigrants. Can you imagine if the U.S. opened the border and allowed everyone south of the border to come up? It would be chaotic. The entire continent of Central and South America would come across and we, the U.S., know this. We are not stupid. It would be ridiculous.

I wish these Mexican groups would quit using the human rights card so much against the U.S. and start using it towards the Mexican government. I also wish our government would quit playing along with these so-called Mexican activist by giving them the satisfaction of discussing it. Just shut up and follow the rules!

I live in Mexico legally too and am now a dual citizen. i believe that the U.S. should give guest worker passes to mexicans working in the states. if they did that, more would go to the states alone and go back and forth to mexico to visit their families instead of smuggling the entire family into the u.s. the U.S. can't open their borders and let everyone in! the terrorists could then just cross into the U.S. i am surprised that the U.S. government is not pursuing faster the guest worker program to have a better response to mexico's fence complaint. the mexican economy counts on the income from their workers sending money home from the u.s., of course they are going to scream about a fence. cathie

Maybe we should start thinking outside the box and look at new ways that will benefit both of our countries. We are all in the america's and are all americans. Del Norte y Del Sur Americanias. By raising the standard of living for our southern american brother & sisters we might resolve this need to come to the north and try to make a living. But then one must ask who would do the menial tasks that we require to be done here in the north. With the aging population that we are experiencing the climates in the south might prove a better way to help accomodate those who will retire creating and industry in itself. I'm sure we could go on and on. Instead of putting up barriers we should be looking for ways to overcome the existing barriers. Instead of spending hundreds of billions of dollars and the unnecessary taking of countless human lifes for a people who must develope for the people and by the people themselves. We should direct these resources and develope our own hemisphere. We have plenty of ways to due this but instead we are blinded into believing that the causes of special interest groups are right for the rest of us and the rest of the world.

Look, I live in Texas and I'm tired of these damn illegals crossing over into Texas every single day. I hate that damn Fox and his bullshit. Why don't the Mexican people take responsibility for themselves and remove their current corrupt government by the ballot and install one that works to improve their living conditions. Until that happens, I say build a wall.

I've read all about Vincente Foxes demand that we provide schooling, welfare, nmedical care and everyother social program that we have for citizens be provided for illegal aliens here in the US. I suggest that everything that we have to give the Mexicans be reciprocal. When I go to Mexico I want free legal service, immunity from insurance requirements, free medical services, free social security, etc, etc etc.

maybe if Mexico had tp provide all the services for US citizens in Mexico that it demands of the US government the demands would peter out to NOTHING.

It is ILLEGAL immegration I have a problem with. A guest worker program is the solution. A fence is part of that solution.

You know being a Mexican American I'm faced with the decision of agreeing with the wall or completely disagreeing. Hard to say but I agree not because i'm one of those Mexican Americans who all of a sudden things they are better than mexicans. No it is because I believe this is a country with laws and they need to be followed. I do believe that we need a temporary work visa for immigrants who want to work in the U.S. I read a comment, which in my opinion is ignorant, saying that mexicans are taking american jobs. Well if that is the case, why dont americans who are on unemployment take them. I'll tell you why it's because Americans are accustomed to our goverment giving us everything for being lazy. Immigrants come here to work for measly wages that to them are a fortune. How much would a head of lettuce cost if a mexican wasn't picking it? Well it sure as hell wouldn't be less than a dollar because i'm sure americans wouldn't want to work in those conditions for that pay. So I say until the day Americans fullfill all the jobs this country has to offer, even the lowest one, then this country will need immigrants to come and fill them up. I'm not saying to just let them all come over but i'm saying to give them a chance to help out our economy with cheap labor.

The ironic thing about this is that Texas was a COUNTRY founded by a war started by WHITE illegal immigrants who went into MEXICO and then decided to keep the land. I think everybody should come to the US legally. We came here with a job and a visa, and have been waiting years for our greencard: working, paying taxes and other (visa) fees.
