U.S. to resume development activities in Madagascar

The United States would resume its development operations in Madagascar, the U.S. Ambassador to the Indian Ocean island state announced on Friday.

Thank goodness for resources once again coming to Madagascar. My guestimate is that 50% of the citizens are un- or under-employed, and crime is rising. Sure, the four so-called leaders are harming the country with their selfishness. But I don't think we should stand by when there is so much suffering. The policy of punishing ordinary people for the maneuvers of a few so-called leaders, in Madagascar, Honduras, Cuba, or elsewhere ends up being perhaps principled but also cruel.
