The man made river was modeled on a 40 year duration of the aquifer, it could go for 20 at full extraction or 200.

A lot of people were happy to see it get bombed by NATO.
If in fact it does deplete the resource for Egypt in particular whose population is immense compared to Libya it would be a sad day for the region.
Why use that particular water to grown crops , when south of the Sahara there is plenty of everything just needs investment.
