Turkey can become a center for nuclear fuel production, says minister

“By independent I mean that the regulatory body should have a clear authority to shut down an operating nuclear power plant”

I never ubderstood any country`s asprations of handling nuclear energy.. what happened?/ in the 70 s everybody in the EU was reeling away from nucleare energy as the waste was deadly..nothing changed but now we seem to fall in love again with the radiactive future..where is all he waste gonna go?..salt mines in bavaria is nearly exhausted...the oceand depths are already full of the decaying steel barrels with radiactive waste in them and the toxic waste can be released into the seas anytime...
developing countries cannot have anymore buried deep into their landfills..wher is it gonna go?? the moon?.. jupiter??...any answers???????

its only our turn to think about the environment, let the americans or the russians or the chinese think about it first, then we will do our share, no doubt.
we first have to make sure, we have every power in our disposal that we can use in our advantage.
and nuclear power is one of them.
Turkey needs to get nuclear power, we have shityy pakistan having nukes but we dont.
these news make me hopeful about it, i think we will have nuclear power soon enough.!

I realise your concerns but what you have to appreciate is Oil is running out, granted Gas is the energy source of the 21st century but even that's unlikely to last far beyond the 22nd Century. If you wish to have viable economy whilst reducing you Carbon emissions Nuclear is the way. Obviously the Greens would argue renewable sources is the way of the future; however, countries like Holland who have gone down this route have realised wind power etc... cannot meet the demand. Obviously we have sufficient Thorium to meet our energy needs for the next 1000 years which is a big bonus.

I have proposed possible answers to your concerns in the post "Nuclear Revival Rekindles Waste Concerns"

oil is running out.we know that.the americans are still building gas-guzzlers and mostof the worls is not conserving..but..there is a lightat the tunnel;microbial fuel...in simple terms;microorganisms that contain electricity as well as ones that burn giving heat..at present trials by biology professors who aretrying to see if it ss possible to multiply fuel-bacterias in factory laboratories..amazing innit?/ so we do not necessarily have to go down the mnuke road! but hey if needed of course we shall but i hope it is used not to build weapons but serve humans...
of course in addition to this we must ensure that no family is alowed more than 2 children anywhere in the world as the world is sinking under this population explosion..so 2 kids to a family ismore than enough and it `ll also wipe out tribalism in poorer sectors of the world and maybe a way for proper democracy in 3rd world countries..

I know this is not related but Armenian recently installed wind turbines in the mountains for cheap energy source.
In general I don't like nuclear energy since the waste and the dangers are not worth it.Armenia should not build new NP in the region since the whole region is very earthquake prone.

We are idiots that have not figured out to maximize free energy from the sun!!

hey your choice - risk of nuclear waste or runaway climate change? As for Chernobyl lets remember the effects on natural animal life was minimal, in fact since the area has been cleared of humans the local wildlife has been thriving.

my sentiments exactly Mr shakarian..
we in Tr shoudl not build the new reactors either.
it is amazing that we still are so stuopid about how much energy we can actually get from the sun!!!
i mean how much would it cost to furnish every single household in the world with sunlight panels to get free electricity, hot water and heating..i bet it woudn`t even cost a years spendong on the itraq war..but as long as these oil companies tell us what to do -and they do always since they have us by the balls, this will only change a few years before the oil actuially runs out,and i for one am not gonna wait that long ,so maybe we should start forsing the oil companies to start paying for the pollution at an exurbitant rate so they develop alternative sources of energy..believe me i bet they alrady have plans in the piopeline but cheap money from oil is too sweet for a conversion..greedy bastards!

being nuclear power militarily is different to be one from a civilian one...we are already a nuclear country in terms of weapons but that should only be there as a deterrent but civilian use;no way jose!the risks are too great!
