For anyone going to San Miguel and needing transportation to and from the Airports in Queretaro, Leon or Mexico City or to other towns and sights to see in the area, we highly recommend Reyes Ortiz.

I would also highly recommend Reyes Ortiz's taxi service. I had Reyes and his friend Adrian take me to and from the Leon Airport to San Miguel De Allende in December 2009. The return trip was at 3:45 a.m., and they were on time at our pickup point in San Miguel. They both speak very good english, and are happy and energetic people.

Later in the week, I had Reyes take my wife/kids/sister-in-law and her kids from San Miguel De Allende to the Mexico City airport in his Suburban. My wife said that Reyes told some very entertaining stories about San Miguel, which helped make the 3 hour ride to Mexico City pass by quickly. He drives very safely and responsibly. Enclosed below is a picture of Reyes with his Mexico City passengers.

San Miguel de Allende

Demographics:
Despite being less than ten percent of the total municipal population, foreign residents have considerable cultural and economic impact.[4] Most foreign residents are retirees from the United States and Canada attracted here by the mild climate, cultural opportunities and low crime. It is only a ten-hour drive to the U.S. border.[18][23] Many of the home buyers are from this segment of the population as well.[18] So many Americans are here that there is a joke that the area is becoming less Mexican and more Disneyland .[18][24] Estimates of foreign residents range from 8,000 to 12,000 with about 7,000 of these from the United States alone.[10][18][19][24][25] This makes San Miguel one of the largest American communities in Mexico,[10][25] large enough to warrant its own U.S. consulate to provide services such as notary and passport.[26] The large foreign presence has established a number of institutions here. The most noted one is the Biblioteca Publica, which has the second largest English language book collection in Mexico, located in the former convent of Santa Ana. It acts as the community center for foreigners.[21] There is also a chapter of the Lion's Club (est. 1987). A post of The American Legion and The Veterans of Foreign Wars is located there ,[27] and Mexico's only Audubon Society chapter.[28]
Just 30 min by car from where I live currently.

Will be interestig to go one of these days to check how much SMA has grown in the last years.
