Maldives moves to protect its sharks

Hunting reef sharks is now banned throughout Maldivian waters. The government decision has made the Indian Ocean archipelago the first nation in the region to outlaw the practice.

I've been living and diving in the maldives for ten years now. I've seen sharks where there are almost none nowadays. I really hope this govern law makes some improvement. I also hope that no more shark jaws can be found in the souvenir shops in Male and that no one buys any shark related souvenir.
