1 It was not in either the British or Scottish governments’ interests for Megrahi to be released. It is also not possible that Mr Brown released Mr M in order to obtain Libyan contracts. As one British MP involved in the trade negotiations admitted, he was not even aware at the time that there was a Libyan prisoner in a British jail. They were discussions like any others and were completed before the Megrahi release issue arose. The differences between US and UK relatives are interesting. Speaking in general , the Brit relatives want more information and investigation. They want all suppressed documents released, both UK and US and especially the CIA ones. They are after the murderers higher up in the conspiracy, especially those that ordered it. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/8213352.stm Fewer US relatives seem willing to consider the possibility that Mr Megrahi may be innocent and seem more concerned that everyone accept his guilt. Seif makes the mistake of thinking that because Megrahi is mentioned to senior Brit politicians, he must influence their decisions. There is no reason to think this is possible, let alone evidence to prove that is the case. Even so, Megrahi’s son seems almost bright compared to his father. I wonder how many Libyans would move to the UK if they could? 50%? |
