So much for the President's apologetic approach to the Arab world, and to Islam. Sheik Nasrallah shows himself to be as unreasonable and as unamenable to negotiation as ever.

Nasrallah will not rest until he has himself another war. This is all grandstanding to save face. He knows his days as a "leader of the resistance" are over. Now he must work with a legitimate government ... or start a new civil war.

Lyom is right. This guy is old news. His relevance has diminished substantially. Now that peace talks are in the works, he will fade into a bad memory unless he can stir up extremists with his rhetoric.

As for America's sympahthies for Isrrael. That would be a good topic of debate. I would suggest a factor is that Israel is a major economic power intertwined with American business interests.

Religion has less to do with it then financial co-dependence between the US and Israel. To test this theory, can you say the same about the economic ties between Lebanon and the U.S?

Israel is the only legitimate democracy in the area. That is why the U.S. supports them.

" said Obama has gone even farther in his military support for the Jewish state than his predecessor, George W. Bush - who was reviled in much of the Arab world for his support of Israel and war on Iraq." Hillarious! I love it!

Man you Americans....

Supporting our enemies and they tell us what to do...

So easy to tell other people to give up on part of their land, right?

If Obama so love the Palestinians and want they will have a country, why he can't give them a country of his own land?

Obama just stupid hypocrite...

few months before Gaza war he said that Israel have the right to defend itself from Hamas,
and in Gaza war he blaming Israel on attacking Hamas...

He is retarded or something?

well you jews, why do u think you have the right of claim over land? if i have my history straight, it was israel that has pushed the palestinians out, not the other way around.

if you actually believed in god, you would realize that NO ONE has ANY OWNERSHIP over land. there is no such thing. humans draw borders, make wars and claim ownership. in actuality, we do not OWN anything. we are merely tenants in the natural order of the world.

the GAZA war was a massacre against the Palestinian people who just want basic rights and need supplies to eat and teach their children. if israel would stop the blockade, the tensions would subside, but israel is a terrorist nation just as it claims others are against it. even the UN declared that the force used by israel was wrong. israel SHOULD be tried for war crimes against the palestinian people of gaza.

i have absolutely no sympathy for the israel people. you live in luxury compared to the people of palestine.

iran used to have a legitimately elected democractic govt until the us pushed him out.

its the US's meddling in foreign affairs that continues to get us into trouble.

we do it because of money and resources. its stupid and we pay the price. if we instead used our minds to innovate alternatives instead of trying to control other countries resources we wouldnt be in this mess.

Actually -- you don't have your History right. In 1947, both Jews and Arabs inhabited the land that traditionally called Palestine which was, at the time, controlled by Britain.

Britain, with the assistance of the UN, partitioned the land into separate areas for Jews and Arabs. This is precisely the same thing Britain did in India when they created separate partitions for Hindus and Muslims that eventually became the countries of India, Pakistan and Bangladesh.

In 1948, the Jewish Partition (with the approval of the UN) became the state of Israel and the Arab Partition was forcibly occupied by the countries of Egypt and Jordan.

Something you MIGHT was to take up with your bank or landlord.

When Jews living in Israel have BUILT that luxury from a barren desert. Jews planted the groves, filled in the swamps, created the businesses and communities that created that comparative luxury. In contrast, the Arabs have done NOTHING with their partition.

Even so, Israel is the single largest supplier in the Middle East of direct aid (daily shipments of food, fuel and medical supplies) to the Palestinians. The combined support of every Muslim State in the world doesn't equal what Israel give the people of Gaza and the West Bank.

The answer to the problem of Palestinian "suffering" is to force their "leadership" to stop armed resistance against Israel and create a peaceful (and hopefully prosperous) state in borders they negotiate with Israel. No one can end the suffering of the Palestinians except the Palestinians themselves,
