Sorry to disappoint u but Suzanne Tamim is a Lebanese Muslim :SS. She's a relative of my family. If talking about beauty, Haifa wehbe, the most beautiful woman in the middle east is a Lebanese Muslim. I hope u get over ur hate for ur cousins in Lebanon and see that we are all one! Hot enough for you this last week? Yeaaach /8-[ Wow lots of activity. I heard Najwa's got a new release out too. Have you checked out this new young Syrian singer Shahd Barmada. She's something else! I dont have any links handy but i'm sure you know where to find her. Well i'm coming to this forum mor & more infrequently, in fact just for this thread. Are you on MySpace or facebook? There are pretty good resources for Arabic music on MS. I've pretty much devoted my blog to it on MS, beginning with my older posts here (inspired by you). But almost all of my friends there are not really interested /:-( Let me know if your a member and i'll let you know how to find me. Take care Beauty and keep listening!

Hi Tammuz,
I did buy Najwa Karam's new Album "ana bamzah maak ( I am kidding with you) and I have never been so disappointed in queen Najwa. The album was a mess. I only liked one song which was a debke song. Did you see the latest news in the Al-jaras magazine about Samira Saeeds Album (Ayam Hayati) she sold more cds in the first day then Nawal Al-Zoughbi did in the first 3-months of her new album. She already gotten two Awards and the album is only been out a week. I just hope Diana Haddad's Kaliji album is good I dont wont to be disppointed again in our lebanse queens.
Take care

Hey there AB, That's too bad about Shams al-Ghinniyeh. I dont really like much of her stuff since the mid-90's to tell u the truth. I dont really go in for Beirut pop in general, but i love dabke/mawwal tunes. The problem is no singer can make a career out of performing just that.
I've got a bunch of old Sameera cassettes from the 90's. I've always thought she has a sweet voice, like a dove or a nightingale (bulbul), but again most of her tunes are too poppy for me, kind of like Arabic "bubblegum" music. Do you like serious "classical" Arabic music at all, like al-Kindi ensemble or solo oud etc?

Ohh and what happend to the Phoenician Devil, did she find out she was Jewish, I mean what kind of people have so much hate towards their brother and sisters I grew up on the North Shore of Boston, next door to where i'm living npw. My parents are from Vermnt and Rhode Island. I'm retty much all Irish with a little Welsh & English thrown in i guess. But i spent most of the 90's in the Middle East studying language and then researching my dissertation. My wife is Syrian (Suryan)/Lebanese (Rum Orthodox). I have no idea what happened to that one "Astarte" etc. I think she, her ISP address, got banned by the admin. I almost feel sorry for her -- spamming that neo-Phoenician propaganda seemed to be her whole life. Yeah some of these singers are real lightweights. I mean who can take Haifa Wehbe seriously. Beautiful, well i guess so, but talented, c'mon on!

How come all those "Phoenician" artists have Arabic names and sing in Arabic? Is there a record available in Phoenician language?
