May be good and sensible or may be not!!! The good side, it creates job opportunities and brings income to the country. The bad side is becoming overdependent on others, deterioration of the culture and society in every aspects.
So what is better, well common sense may answer that and that is, STRIKE THE BALANCE. WORK AND START FROM HERE AND LOOK ELSEWHERE. Wondering around may end up with no roots for the people to anchor their hopes. What do you think FOLKs? Cheer up and contribute! |

very very true, you can, but paying out of the pocket, leaving one in not much use, but keeping it, to fall back on,will cost you dearly, and maybe in the end, wont have nothing at all, when old age creeps in

Hello Everyone
Sounds convincing! But what is the real problem? To me, the leaders seem to frighten to take the risk of their own development. Taking the risk is like entering the unknown which is the only way to get closer to the truth of the matter. Let Pacific Island leaders take the risk and keep the records along the path as the only way to improve and get closer to the core of development. If continued to be bound by the rules of the game,'not wanting to disturb the status quo' and continuously do 'business as usual' then I guess with my modest knowledge and understanding that can be one of the hurdles. |

Thank you guys for your good comments but I can't understand why our leaders made such decisions as they have good advisors on diffrent areas and so on. Maybe they need some powerful medications to reoder their brain etc.

You're right Jack.
Something wrong with our leaders! Don't they understand they encourage brain drain disatrous for the country? Let encourage the uneducated lots to find works overseas such as fruits-picking in NZ or Australia. The country needs qualified people - they are the 'drivers' of the economy now and in future. It's the obligation of Mr President and all our leaders to create jobs for the people, if they can't because they don't know how, it's then better they step down!!! Or what do you think fellows? Merry Xmas and Tekeraoi! |

I have fallen in love with Kiribati and I would love any insight about finding employment there. Is there a local paper or place jobs are posted? I should add that it is the culture and the place I love and I have no intention of damaging that in any way. I would like to embrace the culture, not live as an "expat" but rather strive to become a community member. In short, I hope to offer more than I take. I am a nurse and my husband is a college professor. We have two young children and are also interested in having a small organic farm. We are American citizens right now. We hope to give up our American citizenship however.
All feedback will be appreciated. With kindness, Zev |
