Old news and well published. It is an issue DFA is a little hush-hush about but stories get around and women keep going to the Middle East to work as domestic helpers. The reason is very simple. They were deprived of a good education by their country and they can not find a job here! Most come from poor families and hardship is nothing new to them. It is criminal what happens but what option do they have. Starve or take a chance!!!!! DO YOU THINK DFA WILL BAN THEM FROM ACCEPTING EMPLOYMENT IN THE MIDDLE EAST......Not a chance!!!!

If the working conditions, abuses and what not
bother the filipinos that go over to the mid-
east to work or for that matter anywhere in the
world - then it is simple just don't go.

That will never happen because they can only
make so much in their own country - poverty
wages so if you can't deal with it then

This story is very sad and all too common. Middle-Eastern men have a natural disdain towards women, and Middle-Eastern women tend to be jealous when their husbands notice the Filipinas working for them. They then take it out on the Filipinas themselves through abuse.

The only solution I can think of at the moment is a ban on Middle-Eastern countries in favor of more civilzed ones. There are enough countries out there with progressive labor codes and organizations in place to help Filipinas in these kind of unfortunate situations.

The government should ban housemaids going to muslim countries. Any job can go to middleeast but not housemaids. Though, they have to look at the immigration officers in NAIA, where they allow those women to passed their boot without proper documentation. The recruiters connive with these unscrupolous immigration officials in NAIA in exchange for 25k pesos per head. They check them out as tourist but they will come & work as housemaids in the middle east. Check that out, its happening...

Filipinos should be careful about their applications through agencies. They only go with those that are trusted and accredited with the POEA so they will have protection when they work in other countries. Or better yet, stay in the country. Citizens of other countries would not, could not and never let their governments sell them as slave labor GOT THAT! If their governments showed them that lack of respect then the people would shove a collective foot so far up their asses you would have to open their mouth to tie your shoes.
