There are no Hawaiians or Aloha anywhere on Oahu. The last famous real Hawaiian was Iz Kamakawiwole. Maybe Molokai, but the old Hawaiians went extinct. Forced out by haole colonists, their way of life destroyed by Western culture. Now all that's left is poverty, anger, mistrust, and hatred. Today I surfed Queens and a local guy, maybe Hawaiian, maybe Samoan, I don't know, ran into me and came up screaming. Wasn't really my fault. Then he smacked my arm with his palm. It was really weird actually. Most anyone wouldn't get angry. I just paddled off thinking this guy just brought some bad karma on himself. I think he may have been gay actually.
The Hawaiians live in a perpetual state of hatred and racism. They didn't do it to themselves, but they can't get past it. They can't unite and they don't seem to be able to pick and choose their battles. Screaming your head off in the surf will do nothing for you but raise your blood pressure and kill you prematurely. It won't drive out haoles or return the aina to the Hawaiians. The real battle is against the state and City & County and the big businesses, but they fight in the streets. Fighting and being a fighter has infiltrated their way of life so much that they forget the Hawaiians, except the chiefs, were some of the most peaceful and loving people in the the world.
As long as Hawaiians are divided, they will get nowhere. Their way of life keeps getting eaten away by powerful money interests. So they live and dwell in anger and hatred. It's horrible, but true.
So the Hawaiians on this site angry over the nimrods who hate you, and you angry for the loss of your land (and rightfully so), don't tell me you are Hawaiians. You can't be, they were destroyed by my evil brethren years ago. And the companies built hotels on the beaches you and your father once knew. And all that remains in you is DNA that makes you look Pacific Islander.
And here we all sit--haole, nisei, malihini, kanaka maoli, kama'aina (like me), Pacific Islander--on this sweltering shithole called Oahu.

Hawaiians mixed bloodlines for centuries in an embrace of aloha to all the people of world. We all truly miss the real Hawaiians who understood their culture and lived it everyday. Races that have children with same bloodlines always have far more birth defects than mixed.
It shows how smart Hawaiian ancestors were above all other races in that they knew there was no good to inbred mating practices.
None of this fake "i am hawaiian" foolery where blackish hair and hate filled hearts make'em Haw'n but instead sound like a bunch of KKKers.
The ancient Hawaiian culture prospered and they survived thousands of years without hate and bigotry.

Fight government or any agency that tells you how much Hawaiian blood you must have. If you have a speck of Hawaiian blood you are more Hawaiian because of your heritage of mixing bloodlines.
Together all descendents of Hawaiians should not allow the percent of Hawaiian blood to affect your rights to your heritage. OHA needs to follow the lineage and count all Hawaiians not a select few.

Sounds just like us Maori, bro. But I agree with Compassionate Cat: hybrid vigour from mixed Malay and Papuan ancestry is what made the Polynesians great. We should continue this by mixing with Japs or Brits or whoever. I still think a king provides a reminder of what we're about. And so what if he's a duffer - just reminds us that any ruler is just another human being. Keeps things in perspective while maintaining some continuity of history into the future.

Wow I've never come across such comments. The ignorance of people on here is overflowing. I come from a Hawaiian,German,English, Native American mix - I suppose I should tell my white mother that she is superior to her children because we have blood running through us that is other than white. You narrow minded individuals make good people like her look bad within your own race. Quite amusing, that the "white people" have audacity to speak of a culture, to call them stupid, fat, slobs, etc.
Americans (in which a name you adapted as immigrants of Europe since you are not rightful true owners of the land - yet most of the true natives live on reservations and their generations have suffered to the hand of diseases and invasions....See that's the even funnier part, you Americans don't even know your history or ancestory enough to know you're not truly American, your ancestors were immigrants - they bust their ass only to have their future generations be as ignorant as that are now)- are the most unhealthy race above all. With fast food on every corner, not only that, the most spiritually un-evolved - at the end of the day, and end of the world, your materialistic ways, ideas, and attitudes will not matter, and all your cruelty will be remembered in the face of God.
Hawaiians are the most gentle kind souls, with such a knowledge and RESPECT for life and others - no matter where someone comes from..Who can blame them if they don't want these types of people on their land ?? Would you ?? They'd like to preserve a sense of righteousness and purity.
And EVERY race has ignorance, laziness, cruelty,etc ..So to dare speak for every individual of a race, is insane. No wonder God made us live in this Hell called Earth. We don't deserve a paradise from the way we treat each other ..when we are supposed to be United. Only a few smart ones really get it...Too bad for the rest of you.

i've lived in hawaii for 9 years and yes, most hawaiians are stupid.PERIOD. they are mostly ignorant and violent people. they complain and bitch about everything being stolen from them and how they are fighting for sovereignty,and act as if they are the only people that have faced oppression. Well while your on your boards, or laying on the beach, drinking, smoking ice, harassing haoles, or eating at l&l,the one thing your not doing is organizing and getting your land back.And what would you do if you had it?Where would you be without McDonalds,and alcohol,and ice, and tourism?Who is fighting the battle against the superferry ?and saying this... i have to say, of course not all Hawaiians are like this, just like all haoles are not like this. I did not steal land, and my mother and father did not steal land, and my grandparents did not steal land. If in fact all of us "haoles" were to leave and give back the "stolen lands," what then? The economy would fall apart, businesses would go bankrupt, and all federal money used to fund your schools and WELFARE would be no more.
If you all truly wanted to rise above all the supposed injustices imposed upon your people, perhaps you would encourage your children to pursue an education and get a decent job instead of encouraging your children to be hateful and lazy. Stop using ice and drinking yourselves to death and maybe the next generation will follow suit. Teach your sons that violence is not the answer, and maybe they won't continue to overpopulate Halawa. Feed your poor babies and put a roof over their heads and clean clothes on their backs instead of spending your last $10 on a six pack and a pack of cigarettes.
It's sickening to see the misery inflicted upon the children of Hawaii. No wonder they grow up to do drugs, steal, and wind up in and out of jail. Yes, many locals are good parents, but many are not. The only people depriving Hawaiians of a decent life are the Hawaiians themselves. What is better: teaching your child to hate and telling them that they'll never amount to anything because the "haoles" will always keep them down, or telling your child that they can be ANYTHING if they work hard, get an education, and be a decent person? Perhaps the latter, yes?
"Living aloha" shouldn't equate to living a life of sloth, misery, and self-inflicted poverty. Aloha is such a lovely concept that the "locals" grasp least-well of all Hawaii's residents.
